Was using Elay subs a while back head shot on a rabbit at about the 110m mark, saw the strike, bunny flopped, then the bunny gets up and starts moving.

Que laughter from my buddy, so 1 more rounds down range, which I was full sure connected, until the 3rd shot stopped him.

So in we go to see what went wrong. Found the most destroyed rabbit I had ever seen one head shot and fully open stomach with a chest wound too. No way to be sure which round went where but I never touched elay subs again.

Definitely ranks as one of my more unpleasant shooting experiences. I have also watched a fox steal a rabbit I had hanging in a tree. Just let him off with it I was so impressed he got up there

you be better off getting a .17 if you shooting at over 100mtrs. it wouldnt surprise me the rabbit was still alive shooting it at that distance wit a sub.

well i dont know about you but if im shooting an animal i aim for the kill zone and the arse of one is not a kill zone, thats stupid shooting in fairness and id go as far as saying you shouldnt be hunting if thats what your at.

It's not for nothing that Duracell use rabbits in theis ads.....unless you get a head or chest shot the will keep going,
not going to put up any graphic descriptions or examples but any one that shoots rabbits know how tenacious of life they are

    IMVHO & experience

Effective range for .22lr subs is 70 yards

Effective range for .22lr HV is 120 yards

Depending on shooters ability to hit head/shoulder area on bunny

One of the places i shoot rabbits has a lot of foxes, Shot a bunny one day. Was out with two mates, They saw the hit.

We were walking talking as one of the guys had a new rifle and was asking me questions about it. When we got to the target area, no rabbit.

Out of the corner of my eye i saw a fox, Running up the hill and into cover with my bunny.
I shot her yearling cub a few weeks later as payback, the old vixen is still on the go though!

Correct and right very poor shooting, would not be talking about it too much. Should be embarrassed:mad:

not blowing my own trumpet but i regularly shoot bunny's past 100m even as far as 140m and i'v never had a runner , head shots only and i use winchester subs, i find them very accurate in my .22lr cz.

Thats fair shooting with a .22lr. can you put 5 bullets inside 2'' circle one after the other @ 100mtrs??

One of the rare occasions, I do remember saying it was one of my worst shooting experiences.

Just for reference, with a .22lr elay sub hp, that is 40.2grain BC of about 0.104, 1032 fps, 0 wind and sighted at 100m. You get the following.
You will see even at 500m it packs more punch than an air rifle. Now I am in no way suggesting I can hit a rabbit at that range but the math would support the decision.

    Range(M) Velocity(ft/s) Impact Drop Time_of_Flight Energy_(Foot_Pounds) Drift
    0 1032 -0.5 0 0 95 0
