UPC have no record of address - still possible to get services? (Swords)

    Hi all,

I'm moving house at the end of the month and was told by the current residents that when they tried to get UPC in the past, they were told it was unavailable at their address.

So I called UPC a few days ago and they weren't able to find my address on their system at all. It's only a small "estate" of 7 or 8 houses within an ever smaller "estate", just off Swords Main Street so I'm not overly surprised that it's not listed. The full address is Riverview Apartments, St. Colmcille's Court, Main Street, Swords and I asked the person at customer services to try different variants of that in case the full address wasn't listed but still couldn't find it.

I'm just wondering though whether it's a case that services are actually available but because whenever anyone called UPC to see if they could get them, the customer service person was unable to locate the address and so assumed it wasn't possible and because it was assumed it wasn't possible and no one signed up for UPC, their system doesn't list the address. A bit of a vicious circle if that makes sense.

Does anyone who's familiar with UPC think that might be possible or does the fact that the address isn't listed mean they definitely don't provide service in the area? It's literally just behind Main Street so it's not a question of isolation.

The Customer Service rep was quite friendly and suggested calling back when I was actually living there as they might still be able to set it up. Was he just being friendly or would that be a possibility? Would they send an engineer out to look? How exactly do their connections enter the house - is it via overhead wires or is it from underground and could I tell from looking outside whether it's connected to their network?

    Thanks.
