STI Scared

I have had a read of a lot of the STI thread at the top of the page but just had some questions.

I'm nervous I may have picked up something off a girl I slept with a few weeks ago. My penis has become kind of sore when urinating or masturbating/having sex. Also having a feeling I need to urinate but only a few drops come out.

So I've decided I want to get a STI test done. Only thinking is I'm quite broke being a student so was wondering are there any free clinics available in the Dublin area?

I know there's the GUIDE clinic in Jame's Hospital. But don't know if I could afford a full day off college. Is it true you have to be there really early in the morning to be seen in the afternoon?

Is there Mater Hospital's one free also? I saw that that appointments only so might be a better bet.

Any other advice/information would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know of any free clinics but if you can afford to pay, you can make an appointment with Dr Freedman or Friedman, not sure how it's spelt in Ranelagh. You don't need to be there all day, you just show up for your appointment and he does the tests and takes samples etc and you are finished within about 30 minutes. Possibly less, I can't quite remember. It's the same as a normal doctors surgery as far as I can tell so it should be a lot faster than waiting at a free clinic.

I went to him a few years ago and I think it cost 150 euro to be tested. I'm guessing the price may have went up since then.

He was able to give me some results there and then and the rest took about a week or so as the samples had to be sent off to the lab. I felt fine and had no symptoms but was paranoid but thankfully everything came back clear.

It's good that you are going to get tested anyway.

Do you have a health centre in college? If so, they could test you for free or at an extremely reduced rate.
