Tight Calf Muscle - Any help appreciated

    Hi All,

I'm running a half marathon tomorrow, but my left calf muscle is very tight since yesterday morning.

I've been stretching consistently throughout my training so I'm surprised that this is kicking in now, especially considering I've reduced training since Monday to allow adequate recovery for the race.

Does anyone have some tips on how I can loosen it out before tomorrow?

Any help is greatly appreciated here.

Give Dr. Daniel Keane a call - he's a chiropractor that does a lot of soft-tissue work, and is very good with treating sports injuries. His contact info is:

    Advanced Chiropractic Clinic
    Park Medical & Wellness Centre
    Killarney, Co. Kerry
    Telephone: 064-6636835

Best of luck with the race.

    Brian

Happened to me last year, day before the Connemara half. Like a wooden tennis ball in the calf. Limped home, did a FEW, GENTLE stretches, relaxed, went to bed. Still a bit tight the next day, but loosened out ok during the run.

If it really hurts running, I'd consider dropping out.
