    Hi all,

Quick q- has anyone worked in a paid internship? What were your experiences of it? Doesn't matter what field, just curious about the whole experience in general.

I worked in an internship for 3 months during my summer break.

Have to say, as a college student it gave me some very valuable insight into the industry of which my degree is aimed at.

It was my first experience that was not read out of a book like.

Every subsequent interview I got it was the major talking point, and I'm rather certain that having that experience on my CV is what got me the interviews in the first place.

I got paid for mine, but many of my friends done it for free.

No matter your qualification, experience speaks volumes of you, and is definitely worth getting.

I'd highly recommend applying for an internship, even an unpaid one if you can manage it financially. Obviously the best one would be something related to your studies but if not its no big deal and you still can still talk about all the soft skills you've learned when the time comes for graduate program or full time position. You never know, you might really like it and decide on following up on that career after graduation. Like the poster said before me the experience makes a difference in even getting an interview and you will be asked all about it so make the most of experience if you manage to get one. One more point to make is that its often the case that if you make a decent impression during an internship you will be at a huge advantage for a full time position after graduation.

Even leaving all the work aside, it can be laugh too, you get to meet new people, see how the real world works and all the better if you make some extra cash. Plus you'll have a better idea of what you want to do.

Anyone know where a good place to start looking for a graduate internship would be? Business / law / public administration areas? Would prefer to do it abroad?

Are you looking towards this summer or the one after?

I know majority of the big 4 companies in business have already done their recruitment, and the same for most of the major law companies for this summer.

Unfortunately, it is pretty late timing to only be starting looking now(assuming it is this summer you are after)...

Having said that, get on their websites. Ur in the field, surely you knwo the major players?

Go to careers area of website and look for internships tab :)

Regarding different countries? look up the big players in different countries and do the same!
