I'm heading down to Kerry over the weekend and hoping to get a few hours to myself and get in a bit of walking. I'll be based near Tralee so I'm looking a something interesting taking no more than a few hours definately no more than 4-5 hrs. I'm not too familar with the area so if any one can recommend a route, mountain, hill etc or some site I can get some info from I'd appreciate it, difficulty not an issue.

Caherconree, on the Dingle Peninsula, in the Slieve Mish Mountains would be a great morning's hike. To get there take the Camp/Castlegregory road out of Tralee and you'll need OS Map No 70.

Some nice walks in Kevin Corcoran's book 'Kerry Walks'. I realise its probably too late to get the book if your heading down for the weekend, but for anyone who's interested, its only €6 on The book Depository at the moment!:)

Thanks again for the Caherconree suggestion. I went up on sunday and it was a great walk with great views due to the clear sky plus some snow which added to it all. Highly recommend it to any one in the area.
