    Hi,

The weekend just gone I had unprotected sex, my period was due on Monday. I don't get heavy periods, but I just seem to have spotting the last few days and I am wondering is there any chance I could be pregnant or am I just over reacting a little.

    Thanks.

would it not be too early to do one? I'm probably just over reacting.

IF your period was due monday then it's not too soon to do a test.

Thanks, without sounding gross I have been using a tampon the last few days but there is hardly anything on it when taking it out and as I said don't get heavy periods but never got them this light before either so that's why I'm a bit worried.

I know I shouldn't ask for advice if I'm not going to take it - but I still have a slight bit of blood and I think I might just be over reacting and I know I should go get the test to put my mind at ease but I feel that I wouldn't bleed every day if I was pregnant and that it must just be that I am worried. I will go get one....so for the rant.

Very likely your worrying is delaying your period. This is what happened to me. I got 'Precision' test and it showed the faint line so I immediately went and got clearblue. As I said, two very clear negatives. Just get it and put your mind at ease.

To be honest, as your period was almost due when you had sex it is unlikely but it can still happen.

A pregnancy test will not show up a positive line(even a faint one) unless you are pregnant. The test detects the presence of pregnancy hormone in your body and for that reason, you will never get a positive result which turns out to be false. This is because the hormone which is detected( hCG) is only ever in the body when pregnancy occurs.
You can however get a false result and still be pregnant if the amount of pregnancy is not of a sufficient level to be detected by the test!!

You can get light spotting at the time of your expected period when in early pregnancy. This happened me on two of my babies pregnancies and in both I was well and truly pregnant at about 11 weeks before I realised......

As Thaedyal has suggested the only way to be certain is to get a test. If negative, leave it a few days and repeat the test to make sure:)

Hi fluffyorganic1 - would I get it every day or I just assumed it would be one or two days - I have had a light bit of blood for the 5 days I get my period.

I'm no expert love so can only go by what happened to me....
My 1st pregnancy I had literally a bit of spotting one afternoon which cleared overnight. Came back the next day but disappeared again to return the third day and then stopped altogether. I was young at the time (18) and didn't know much about pregnancy implantation bleeding

My 3rd pregnancy, it happened again but this time the bleed was much more significant and this led me to believe that I indeed had a true period..

Needless to say I was well surprised to find out later on that I was about 10 weeks pregnant:)

All I'm saying is to do another test later to make sure and good luck
    Keep us posted

    Hi Sunflower,

I still have plucked up the courage to take the test - think I might do it today. I haven't felt any symptoms but then again it would be too early to tell and I think I might just have worried myself too much and that is why I had such a faint period last week. I will get the test at lunchtime and take it then.

    Thanks.

That would have been very late in your cycle to become pregnant. You fertile days would have been around day 12-17 if you were ovulating.

I wouldn't worry too much about it.

to be honest I know I was a little apprehensive about taking the test but I wouldn't have minded if it had been positive. But it wasn't so no point in dwelling on it.
