Bosch Exxcel Dishwasher

    Hi

I'd appreciate any help with this.

My mother bought a Bosch Exxcel Dishwasher 3 years ago. To cut a long story short, it has been sitting in the garage still in the packaging for the last 3 years and it only finally got installed a few weeks ago.

It worked fine for the first wash they put into it (they said... I don't know for sure because I wasn't there) and it hasn't worked since. When you put it on, it just gurgles away and doesn't seem to be washing. The counter counts down untill there is just one minute left on it. It stays at one minute and will keep gurgling away untill you turn it off.

I have tackled a good few Washing Machines and dryers in the past but not a dishwasher. I took off the side of the machine...

What seems to be happening is that the machine starts filling with water. It keeps going untill the float that I have circled rises which sets off a switch which then starts pumping water out of the machine untill the float goes down again...... then it starts filling again..... etc etc etc

From reading around on the internet, I think that float is some kind of an emergency sensor. i.e. If the correct sensor to see if it is being filled with water fails, this kicks in to stop the machine flooding the kitchen.

I think I need to be looking for something called an "Impellor Jug". This may be faulty or may just be seized because the machine was sitting for so long. Also, apparently, I will find this by taking off the back of the machine.

So tonight I will be taking it apart to go looking for this.

As I don't have any experience of dishwashers, I was just hoping someone here might have come accross this problem before and might be able to let me know if I'm going in the right direction...?

This is a thread I found after googling the problem which seems to be the same problem that I have.....

    Thanks in advance.

I s there water in the base.the float switch is activated by a polystyrene float which water leaks into the base.
The impellor jug is the white thing in the left of the photo between the hoses. They give a lot of trouble

    Thanks G.Man

The Float Switch seems to be working fine. It kicks in as it should when the machine starts to over fill.

I took the Impellor Jug out tonight. I didn't have a spare one with me so I just made sure that it could move freely and put it back it and it's still the same.

I think I'll get a replacement part for it and stick it in. If that doesn't work, I'll call in the professionals.

also check that the sump hose is not blocked.thats the longish hose which lets the water flow from sidechamber to inside of dishwasher.it can be removed and run under a tap
