Running/Triathlon Scene Sligo/South Donegal

    Heading up to Sligo/south Donegal area with work for a lot of the summer. Whats the running scene like up there? Will be up there Monday to Thurs a lot of weeks so will miss all the midweek evening races down in Cork throughout the summer. Would there be many races on a tues/wed/thurs evening up in those parts?

    Also anything like a weekly cycling time trial or open water swim or anything like that in Sligo? Checked the sligo triathlon club website but it says the account has lapsed.

    Hey Gringo78,

    There is a huge Tri scence in Sligo at the moment. Sligo Tri Club are running mid week time trials starting in May and open water swimming league starting on the 23rd May and run over a few Sundays. They also have regular swim training sessions in Rosses Point in preperation for the Rosses Point tri on the 31st July. The link you were looking at was the old address, all info can now be found at

    It is a very well run club, I am a member but unfortunately studying in Dublin so dont get much training in with them.

    There is also Mullaghmore Tri Club which may suit you as it is closer to Donegal. They do open water swimming on Wednesday nights I think. Just check site to be sure
