I heard it had to divert to Weston due to sheep on the runway at Dublin airport.

Ok, so its a gag but what would stop a 380 landing at EIDW? I assume the "parking" boxes at DUB aren't big enough but is that the only thing that'd stop it? There are some small structures by the side of 28/10 but would these interfere with the aircraft landing? Is the main runway strong enough to take the beasts weight? How long before a 380 shows up on a charter run to Lanzarote or Malaga or wherever? All the greats have ended their days flying charters!

Continuing the A380 theme! It seems all A380 flights from Europe head east, none west. Is this the case? Are there no operators crossing the pond with one?

Air France use the A380 froom CDG to JFK and also CDG to Johannesburg!

These A-380s are super green machines with their tiny 310,000 litre fuel capacity, (accommodating 700 odd PAX).

A small paddle boat like this: http://www.nandjyachtsforcharter.com/yachts/leander/ would suck in 300,000 litres during a tank up - with perhaps 2 PAX on board (aside form the 30 odd crew).....

The yacht probably provides more on-board jobs than an A-380 too!

I'm sorry for not getting to this sooner, please use the reported post function to let me or the other mods know if stuff like this happens again.

OP banned as a result, I think he should have known way better then to post crap like that link.

Odd.Seeing as how the A380 has a suprisingly small required runway length.Much shorter, in fact, than the 747 or 777.Aer Lingus flew the 747 out of Dublin and Air France Cargo regularly fly the 777 into Dublin so I don't think an A380 would be a problem.None of the passenger gates could handle the volume of people though.

But sure it could come over just for the craic every once in a while.Give us something to talk about..;)

    thanks,

Complete guess but I reckon CDG to JFK route would be somewhere well north of Dublin but we live in hope, very easy to see Heathrow bound stuff over Dublin. Usually Virgin 340's and BA 747's.
