    Hi all,

sorry if it's been asked loads of times, but looking for recommendations on which Weight/Muscle Gainer with Carbohydrates is best? Plenty of products out there...confused with which one to go for.

    Thanks

I tried Bsn true mass for a while and liked that.Im still on the fence regards weight gainers though.I wonder would you be better getting a quality whey protein and just upping the calories from whole foods.

Thanks. I'd rather not go down the supplement route, but I've a very high metabolism and a constant light weight. I do eat a lot (mostly good stuff) so just looking for a way to bulk up a bit. I should probably consider drinking more milk ..at the moment drink about 1 litre a day.

lay out your current diet and training program - also add in your current stats.

Overall i find i could not do without a protein supplement most days, plenty of nuts, nut butters, oatcakes, flapjacks (choc, peanutbutter made yesterday yummm), plenty of fruit, veg, meat, eggs, fish etc

The majority of people that say they eat lots don't

Are you not asking for advice on a supplement?

I use Mutant Mass at the moment, large amount of Carbs, but verrrry sweet. Hard on the stomach sometimes.

    Hi Mac85,

I'm in the same boat, my metabolism is so fast its scary.

There is a thread here that started the other day, and some good pointers. It has become a milk thread though!!

    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055869207

I did three liters of milk yesterday and also upped my calorie intake through food by 400. So if I can keep at that level I should see some gain. (so I've been told)

I did notice at the gym yesterday that I was able to get through my routine easier than on monday. Now whether that is due to the upped calories or just that my body is getting used to the new work out, I'm not sure.

    Good luuck,

A tub of Cottage Cheese is briliant for putting on weight, it's better than milk (if you can handle the taste), I find the onion&chives flavour is the nicest :D

I agree with Remmy. Wanted to put on weight for rugby which wasn't ideal in mid-season and found BSN true mass better than syntha 6 from the same company. Went from about 72kg in November to 76.7kg now but that was a combination of the true mass plus eating decent sized meals 4/5 times a day.

Thanks for the replies. Ok, so on average per day I'd usually eat 2 dinners consisting of spuds, veg, meat / pasta or rice based dish, for breakfast muesli with low fat milk, yoghurt, bannana, Orange juice/Smoothie, wholemeal bread, and throughout the day couple sandwiches with meat/coleslaw/lettuce..etc, kiwi/apple/grapes whatevers there, jaffa cakes, peanuts, about 1 litre of milk.
I'd consider that to be a fair enough intake.
I'm only 65kg and all my family are lightly built.
I train 3-4 days a week and play sport.
So looking to get something for after a workout with protein/carbs and goes down easy.

looks like BSN true mass is a good one...I'll have a look into it.
Hopefully I'll see some results soon.

That should be a pint of whole milk with the muesli, in a dirty big mixing bowl with a wooden spoon :pac:

Seriously, I used to eat up to 1000kcal in muesli alone. Another litre of whole milk is an easy 640kcal, an extra 100g of nuts is an easy ~600kcal. Bananas would be higher calorie too, the grapes you have are fairly high already.

Most of those gainers are just protein mixed with overpriced sugar, I would sooner just have protein shakes and low fat high carb cakes/sweets after a workout. Or you could make your own, glucose is got in the baby food section or baking section in supermarkets for a fraction supp companies would sell it at.
