Just this evening i heard about a local guy, cattle haulier/dealer who does something like that, the story was that he fed straw and meal only. Fatten them up to 16 months of age and had 360 euro clear profit a head.
But it was a second hand story so how true it is...........I'll try find out more about it.

I know a guy who did it once on contract for one of the factories, beef was for mcdonalds, he had a very specified system, they pretty much gave you a week by week plan and at the end a guaranteed price.

Dont think he was clearing anything like 360 a head on it though. there was a definite margin, and if you ran the system right it was pretty guaranteed too, but he had a lot of trouble with the bulls fighting, dunno if it was the way he was running things or what but he lost 2 bulls in the shed, basically beaten up by the others.

Ive heard that feeding cattle lots of barley can become more aggressive! Is there any truth in this?
