Bit of a strange Q

    Why does the channel automatically go to channel 100 the upc info channel any time you enter digits to change channel.

    Example, if your watching a channel, and go to switch, and press any digit it will change to the upc channel if you dont enter the next digit real quick. Even if you do it quick, you can still see the picture of the channel you were watching, but can hear the audio of the upc guy talking. Its very annoying! Please tell me im not the only one

    You're not the only one, very annoying indeed. Can't offer any help other than, try to avoid switching channels by entering the digits.

    Unfortunately - that's difficult. The one thing that's really missing from the newer boxes is a channel list. (Much quicker than flicking through 70-80 channels, and less annoying than bringing up the EPG).

    Has annoyed me since the day I got a UPC box. Particularly as the Info TV channel is really annoying!

    The NTL boxes used to give you far more time to enter a channel number and as I recall if you didn't complete entering one, just stayed on the channel you were on.

    It's my number one problem with NTL/UPC. If I ever come across that baldy git on the street, I may be moved to homicide. I'm sick of hearing him yapping on about how to change the card in the set-top box. And I'm in such a fluster trying to get rid of him that I try to stab in the numbers too quickly...and get stuck on him for ages. Aargh!

    We've been so frustrated about this happening and the channel surfing is just a pain in the hole. We don't bother to pause anything now, I'd much rather just miss something while I take a phone call than get angry because the info channel pops up when I press play. It keeps losing series links too...

    We got an engineer out a while back who put a piece of tape of some sort over the remote sensor on the box. He insisted that other remotes must be interfering with it, despite the fact that the NTL remote is the only one we actually use! Needless to say it made no difference, if anything it's getting worse.

    I must say, I'm getting very close to the point where we'll call an engineer out, solely to shove the NTL box up his hole and tell him to take it back to hades with him. And yeah, that baldy git may just get a thumping if I see him on the street too!

    The only good thing about the service is the broadband.

    Getting rid of Channel 100 and Infuriating UPC Guy is easy. Lock out the channel. That way, if you accidentally hit the wrong channel number (or the UPC remote has one of its fits), you just get a black screen and don't have to listen to his incessant yapping. It's not perfect but it helps.

    I haven't see yer man for the guts of a year. Tis brill.

    Oooh. How do you lock it? That would be amazing!

    This is how I did it.

    First, set up a PIN which is useful so nobody can unlock channels. Go to;
    Menu --> Settings --> PIN Settings --> put in PIN of choice.

    Once you've got your PIN in place, then go to;
    Guide --> Settings (press the green button) --> Press OK --> To lock a channel press the yellow button --> Lock channel 100 --> No more irritating git

    Sweet! I now have a locked channel...and annoying baldy git is locked away forever. Words cannot convey my gratitude!!
