    Hi All
Just looking for a bit of advice here among you experts.
I am looking a taking up the scheme "bike to work" and i havent a clue as what to get. It must be 20 years since i had a bike.
I was in a P &K Cycles today and they pointed out a landrover commute 4.9 for what i needed. It looked a good strong bike, with all the good gears, tyres etc. i will be using it for work and probably only doing about 6kms a day. What are you thoughts on the above brand and would you advise otherwise. All comments welcome.

The array of bikes to choose from is dizzying. Some quick q's for you before I advise on bikes:

    What's your budget?

Will the bike be cycled off road or on road or both?

Would you drive a car made by raleigh?:P

Have you got a link to the bike? Had a quick look on their website and didnt see the one you're talking about. To be honest probably not great, better off going with a bike brand. Land Rovers main focus is cars and they do that very well, I am not sure why they (a long with Jeep and now BMW) have made a few bikes too, I guess publicity.

It would depend on what you are using the bike for, I am guessing commuting so something like the specialized sirrus / giant crs / or many other options on either wiggle.co.uk / chainreactioncycles.com

You would be looking at a hybrid / city bike. Just do a quick search of past threads, there are a lot of them on the same topic.

    Hi
    Budget is 650 -800
Bike will not be used off-road
and probably not, but it might be more reliable than some of the cars today!!!:)

For that budget you could get a proper road bike. Giant, specialised and trek all do models around that price. Just stick a rack and mudguards on and you've got a great commuting bike. I cannot stress enough how much faster and nicer to cycle a road bike is than a hybrid or mountain bike, it's in a different league altogether.
