Hey guys, I'm looking to purchase a bike online but I'm a little confused over the sizes listed.

I'm interested in this bike here:

    http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=46180

I'm not sure what size would suit myself, I'd be around 5'8 - 5'9 in height.

    Any help appreciated, thanks !

Is this with a view to commuting or some trail riding?

    Pyro,....

As a newbie returning to the saddle after a break since 1982 (!), I too found myself 2 weeks ago drooling over a CUBE hybrid online with CRC.

Like yourself, I was unsure as to proper frame size but was choosing between a 54cm & a 58cm frame. Something told me to double check and test ride at a certain store in Tallaght as they were the only Dublin CUBE agent showing both frame sizes in stock, but at dearer prices :(.

I tried both sizes and the 58cm appeared closer to my size (6'1", 30" leg, 315lbs ).
The sales assistant made a suggestion to try a Lapierre hybrid, even though I had an enormous stiffy for the CUBE with its hydraulic disc brakes. Boy was I glad he did! The difference was amazing.

The Lapierre sized as a 51cm/Large was so much more comfy due to its adjustable stem and the assistant fine tuning the saddle position. The CUBE did not offer the comfort and the saddle/bar reach caused me to be top heavy on it, sinking the forks. I came home that day delighted with my bike and relieved that I did not take the chance of ordering online otherwise I would have to (a) re-ship the CUBE back up north or (b) watch it rust in the gargage as it would have been ill-sized to ride for my 'frame'!

My advise, unless you know 110% that the frame size is perfect for you, go to a shop for a test ride and then be confident with your online purchase.

    Best of luck :)
