Zuppy is one of my favourite people to go drinking with.

It's not that he's got a *lot* of stories. It's not that he's got a lot of experience as a coach and athlete. It's not even that I don't have any friends.

Nope, he's one of my favourites because whenever we mix a beer in my hand with him something mysterious and magical happens.

Cute women in skimpy and sexy outfits appear :)

Last time for example was a semi deserted hotel bar on a Sunday afternoon. My beer arrived, he was sitting there and hey presto a few minutes later there were dozens of women in combinations of short / tight / low outfits around. Apparently there was a hairdressing competition going on and they were on a coffee break (for anyone interested PVC and high heels are very in for hairdressers right now). Or the time before when we were in a quiet pub opposite my old offices. I'd drunk in there hundreds of times and never seen anyone interesting. Zuppy turns up and we get a stream of sexy girls in nurse / schoolgirl / witch outfits (halloween party night!)

    So I like Zuppy!

And a few of you will know him as a marathon runner (PB 3:0x), MdS veteran, Ironman and channel swimer. But next week he takes on his biggest challenge when he whisks HM away to a sun kissed foreign beach and makes her his wife. (I told him that marriage is a fine institution, but who wants to live in an institution?)

So in anticipation that HM will only be be running around after him, swimming in dirty dishes and only interested in the cycles on the washing machine as of next week I thought we better get the congrats thread started early.

So to teh pair of you the very best of luck, I hope it's a great day (and night, fnar fnar!) and that you live in sickeningly happy wedded bliss for ever and ever!

+1. Very best wishes for the big day and for the future.
Last Saturday, it looked like it was the other way around, with Hunnymonster very much taking the lead, with Zuppylurk chasing behind. For a long-lasting marriage, you should really let Zuppylurk win sometimes. :)

    Congratulations!

I, too, can recommend this august institution (though it will only be April), having been there twice myself. And twice once turned away. :D

Good luck! (not saying to whom...:p)

Thanks for all the good wishes. Now if anyone knows how I can talk to a real person in Ryanair at 19:35 on a Thursday evening that would really help us actually get to the altar on time...

Yes, Brazillians, if I remember right that was down here in the sunny south.

Too be fair it usually happens when you have beer that suddenly your surrounded by good looking women. If you want something even more magical I shall introduce to the powers of chocolate cake......

Thank you all for the wishes and stuff. Yes there will be beers after the fact (sort of a carrot for going thru with it for me). Maybe in the summer after a race.

Conditions were good overall and training had gone well. I'd been slowly building the pints in the weeks leading up as well as mixing in a few glasses of wine so I was feeling pretty confident that endurance wouldn't be an issue.

The day started well, with Jnr MsA (FlowerGirl) safely delivered to T1 (The Brides Villa, not BrideZilla) but early doors things got a bit sticky when a support crew member was heard ringing around looking for 5.5m of white ribbon (ZLs secret fetish lies exposed for us all to see). A quick squirt of nutrition (a rather splendid bottle of Moet) and myself and MrsA abandoned the wedding party and headed to T2

T2 was a balcony overlooking the sea - competitors had been concerned about high winds affecting performances, especially after the warm up the night before. All went well though as the assembled hoards gathered, leaving the place looking like an explosion in an Oakley factory (whats the collective noun for a collection of ironmen?).

The Holy Man - despite his dodgy rugby credentials - played a blinder in the middle third and we were through T3 and into the long final stretch, through the main refuel and into the long hours of nightclubbing. JnrMsA found a boy who followed her around like a puppydog no matter how scary I tried to be and I spent the night talking rubbish to all who would listen. It was during these hours that confirmation came through that yes The Bride had indeed said "I OBEY!"

Outright winner on the night was of course HM who looked utterly stunning and somehow managed to resist the temptation of running away with me and instead marrying some geezer in a uniform.

So overall a great event was had and a happier couple you would struggle to find :)

Thanks for a stunning "race report".

The Sky pilot with his rugby fetish, did an ultra this year. In his words, to marry two ultra-heads he thought he would join the club.

Mds and double IronMan are short distance compare to the new challenge that lies ahead of you, but it will be the most rewarding!
Congratulation and best wishes to both of you.
