    Hi,

Friend has wirless broadband in apartment and I was looking to connect an xp laptop to his broadband. I connected no problem with another laptop which had vista just using the 'connect to' option from the start menu. I messed around in internet options but I don't see where I can see the available networks and once I could see his wireless broadband I'd be able to connect. Any ideas?

    thanks,

Is the wireless card on your laptop switched on? Depending on the make and model there can be a switch, or it's activated using a combination of keys, usually Fn + one of the function keys.

Once your wireless is on, windows will automatically prompt you to connect to available network.

Check to make sure the wireless channel is one that your laptop can connect to as well, mine wouldn't connect to the wireless modem at home because it couldn't see anything broadcasting on channel 13.
