Ireland's GDP is also 32 times what Haiti's is. That also brings some perspective to it.

It would be vastly more expensive pro-rata to rebuild Ireland with the cost of our corruption.

Haiti needs more than just money... new building codes that address their unique environmental conditions too.

"Hurricane Gordon killed more than 1,000 people in 1994, while Hurricane Georges killed more than 400 and destroyed the majority of the country's crops in 1998. And in 2004, Hurricane Jeanne killed more than 3,000 people as it passed north of Haiti, with most of the deaths in the northwestern city of Gonaives."

The EU gave Ireland €54bn to rebuild itself and it still isn't finished. $4bn for a country with twice the population seems like a bargain.

I've no idea.. Think I heard that number years ago. I did cover myself though since 'cost' can be past tense.

Aviva stadium Landsdowne Road costs €400m. Seven of those eyesores never get built and you've paid for Haiti.

Well they wouldn't be very stealthy if we knew about it, would they?

Ah I wasnt trying to be a pedant... Just curious :)

Yea except its America were talking about here..
They don't necessarily make these weapons to use them in secret and have a tactical advantage..
Half of the wars they fight are all about propaganda and letting everyone know that they WILL police the planet because they have the best toys..

    "Any questions buddy?
By the way, have you seen our new type of stealthy planes that can drop 55 of our finest nuclear weapons right on your breakfast table before you know we've even launched them?

Nahhhh you didn't have any questions did you..."

You don't really have an idea about Haiti.

But that's to rebuild Haiti back into Haiti.

If we wanted to 'rebuild' Ireland to the level of Haiti all we would need is a few hundred Pounds to buy some ravenous dogs from English Pikeys and release them into the streets.

And a few decent hospitals, schools and roads!

To be fair, most of Haiti is cardboard and galvanise.. 4bn almost seems too much.
