Which transmitter?

    Hi,

I'm based in Clonee and was originally pointing my antenna roughly south-east toward Three Rock, which gave me an OK but sometimes weak signal. I played around with it in the rain tonight and have found that by pointing it roughly 210-220SW, I'm getting a near-perfect signal. DVBViewer is showing 95-100% signal strength. Anyway, to get to the point... can anyone tell me where I'm getting that signal from? I've looked through the list of transmitters and I can't see anything WSW of Clonee.

    Thanks in advance.

What channel is RTÉ1 on, might be Maghera, they can get it in Kerry, which would be futher from Gort than Clonee...

    Kippure perhaps?

Surprised you don't get a good signal from Three Rock. I could see the Three Rock site from my house when I lived in Clonee.

    I think it's tuning everything on Channel 54 (735,000KHz?)

According to this Kippure, same frequencies as Three Rock..

Perhaps the signal is being bounced off something locally, but from looking at the map, both Kippure and Three Rock are definitely SE of Clonee.

I may just be totally misjudging the polarity/direction of the antenna. It's almost identical to this one, and is mounted vertically as show here:

I am assuming it's receiving the signal via the flat front face of the unit.

That's a very useful site, thanks. According to the aerial setup map, Mt. Leinster might be what I'm receiving from, although it's quite a distance away.

Mt Leisnter doesn't transmit Ch 54, only Chs 39, 42, 45 and 49. It's Three Rock or Kipure.

Kippure is on 61 at the moment, Three Rock is on 54.

Just to follow up on this... everything was OK for about 4 weeks, then all DTT channels disappeared from CH54 on the TV. I checked the antenna and it hadn't moved at all.

Tried the USB DVB-T stick on the laptop, still no joy. So I went out and repointed the antenna to where it was months ago (SW, in the direction of Three Rock) and hey presto, everything's fine again on CH54.

Anyway, makes me suspect RTÉ may have been trying a new transmitter closer to me, because the antenna wasn't pointing anywhere near Three Rock for the past month or so.
