Without knowing the specifics of your two aerials why not go to B&Q and buy the €10 aerial.

Do you use the two aerials simultaneously for both NI and Irish channels. Are they wideband or grouped aerials, a colour plastic bung will identify the group.

    hi thanx for quick reply
i have already tried the cheap 1 and dont get any pictures
the big aerial is a 48 element hi-gain with a black cap at the end
after reading the link i am gonna try it sideways and see if that works

Clermont Carn covers most of Louth with the Irish stations on UHF channels 52, 56, 66 and 68. Normally received with a vertically polarised UHF group C/D aerial. However I think Omeath may be too close to or "underneath" CC to get these signals. I may be wrong here though.

Clermont Carn also does a low power (10W ERP) fill-in service broadcasting RTE1 & 2 on UHF channels 29 & 33, vertical polarisation. Not sure if this is intended to cover Omeath or not. Theres also a 60w relay in Carlingford broadcasting on channels 41, 44 & 51. UHF Group B, vertical polarisation. No TV3 from here though.

UK stations are probably got from Rostrevor Forest in Omeath. They are on UHF, channels 48, 40, 46, 50. Kilkeel frequencies are 39, 45, 49, 42. Both vertically polarised. Not sure if you would get signals from Belfast (Divis) in Omeath. Probably blocked out by the Mournes. Frequencies are 31, 27, 24, 21. Horizontal polarisation.

Aerial setup for horizontal & vertical polarisation:

Which way is the aerial on the other caravan pointing? What are the 9 stations being received? Not DTT (Digital Terrestrial TV) by any chance?

The Mournes are an impenetrable barrier for Divis in that part of the world. Kilkeel is a safe bet. Rostrevor Forest is a lot weaker but may do the trick. I think the relay at Carlingford is the only real choice in Omeath for the Irish channels.

One other thing, flat screen TVs seem to be poorer at displaying analogue signals in my experience. That could be part of the problem. Did you try with just one aerial pointed straight at Carlingford or Kilkeel?
