Best/Worst moments?

What's your favourite and least favourite moments of supporting your team?

My favourite: I can't decide between Anelka missing his penalty in Moscow or Park's goal against Liverpool. Anelka's miss because it meant we won the Champions League and Park's goal because I was there. I went equally mental for both, but probably moreso for Park because there was 70-odd-thousand like minded people there with me, rather than a dog for Anelka's.:P

Least favourite: Sitting in OT watching United get bitch-slapped around the place by City on the 50th anniversary of Munich, pure and utter embarrassment.

    How about you?

Not to mention they only had 9 men. Still remember that trip and the convoy of buses.

best was by far the 99 CL final. myself and my brother watchin it while my dad went for a walk because he couldn't handle the stress!! he came back to find the two of us in a pile celebrating!!

(closely followed by the 08 final when anelka missed but this time we had a way bigger pile:D:D)

worst was when united played boro a few years back in OT. it was our first EPL game to be at and boro won 3-2 including the smallest man on the pitch, juninho, grabbing two headers! was a long journey home!

(special mention goes to ireland v france definitely the longest journey home i've ever experienced with every person we met french, english, scoish telling us we were robbed and sorry for our troubles!)

Best: Peter Schmeichels penalty save from Bergkamp in the 99 FA Cup Semi-Final.
Was always my favourite player and even though he was leaving at the end of that season it showed how important he was between the posts at crucial times.

Worst- Probably the City game on munichs anniversary, although I had a bad feeling about that game as soon as I saw the old style kit

    Best:

    1. League Win in 1994

    4. Walking into Rovers Pats with both stands open and full last season..
    5. Tony Cousins 96/97

    Worst:

    1. 4-6
    2. Rovers 0-1 Bray, towards the end of 2005. I realised relegation there and then. Waterford won in Derry and SPA won with nine men in Cork..
    3. Bohs 1-0 Rovers, FAI Cup semi final at Dalymount ca. 00/01 with Crowe scoring in the 88th minute.

ireland v spain 2002 world cup
    ireland v france 2009

worst moment of all that was a huge blow had to have been salzburgs 87th minute winner against bohs to knock them out of the champions league, at the time we faced the reality that we had to win that game to help the clubs financial difficulties cos first division was a possible scenario and to go to austria and get a draw where most teams struggled was some achievement, never felt so bitter after a game when they won heartbreaking!!!!!!

    Shels

Best - Being still in business in 2007

Worst - two seconds after the euphoria of beating Bohs in 2006, knowing we were fúcked.

    Boards

Best - Our first medal win in the Winter 08/09 league

Worst - the fact that we always seem to collapse after the Xmas break, two years running we've dropped points in mid January that have cost us titles.

Five times I went most mental

    3. Anelka miss 08
    4. Macheda vs Villa
    5. Owen vs City this season.

    Worst

    1. CL final vs Barcelona - I had Barca as favourites, but the ineptness of the performance was hard to take.
    2. Losing to Liverpool 4-1 last season
    3. Losing the Munich Derby - the players needed to give more that day (100% credit to the City fans that day, great occasion.)
    4. Away to West Ham 95.... :(
    5. Knocked out vs Porto in 03(?) with that last minute goal.

    Best:
The day the news came through for the High Court that the 400 Club had been appointed as the owners of Shamrock Rovers and that the club would continue to exist. It was such a massive high that even when we were relegated that season, it didn't feel as bad as it should have.

Winning promotion from the Discover Ireland league. Long before Cork and Derry tried to get in on the trend, Rovers were there. You haven't experienced real football until you've stood in a tree in a stupidly overcrowded Station Road to watch your team play Kildare ****ing County. That was a mental, mental season and while the First Division was a nice place to visit, I wouldn't want to live there.

March 2009 in Tallaght against Sligo RFC.

I agree with that alright but if I had to pick one of each it would be:
    Best:
Winning the peno shoot-out against Derry to win the double.

    Worst:
Losin to Salzburg in the 87th minue. I was never more sad or depressed. It was devastating to see the ball slowly chipping over Brian Murphy's head and Ken Oman's desperate attempt to clear it. I was in tears when the final whistle went I thought that was the end of Bohs but the Gypsies rule the country like they've always done before.

Some people will never understand the emotions and values of being a true football fan who doesn't sit on a bar stool .

Its tough to break down to a few but im going to go for:

    Arsenal

    Best
    When Fabregas scored vrs Juventus

The young pretender shows the world why Wenger was right to let Vieira leave.

    When fabregas scored v milan

Outplaying milan ( a proper milan team) home and away culminating with the most unbelievable long ranger to seal our path into the next round.

Henry scoring v Real Madrid in the Bernebeau

it was this one or the goal v inter in the san siro. This edges it because of its importance (won us the tie) and the audacity to do that to Madrid in Madrid.

I was only 14 at the time of the invincibles and presumed that arsenal were going to win every match all the time back then...things have changed now and the genuine feelings of absolute joy for those three goals make up for the feelings of frustration when we mess up.

    Worst

Losing to Liverpool in Champs League. Absolutely gutted. more so than the 2006 final believe it or not...i felt barca would eventually score and unfortunately they did.

Watching us v United being torn apart. there's been a few occasions (4-2 in the league a few years back, 6-1 even further back, this year in the emirates and the champs league semi last year). Heart breaking stuff.

Eduardo's and Ramsey's leg break. Genuinely depressed for them and closer to tears more than any loss.

    Youths:
Best: beating shelbourne last game of the season away from home in our first season 3-0
Worst: losing league cup final to derry 6-1 (not even giving them a game at home was pretty pathetic)

It was 1-3, and there were some "irregularities" to say the least. I'll PM you. ;)

Now, I'm not trying to take away from your memories, fair play, but you have to admit that it was a bit weird.

i just went to check the score on the youths website and of course it was put down wrong as 3-0.
I thought i was just because shels didnt have anything to play for and the of course our great support spurring the youths on :p

    On field...

Best: Knocking out Hajduk in the 2nd Qual round of the CL.

Worst: Dundalk '98-seemed like the end of the world at the time.

    Off field...

Best: Every Euro away trip I've been on.

Worst: Demotion + all the financial problems that went with it (which are still there).

Best: Any of the European trips really. Knocking out Elfsborg and the away wins in Malta and Riga. Also, seeing Pats play in the Olympiastadion in Berlin was pretty special.

Worst: Loosing 4-3 to Derry in the cup final. :( and well, an awful lot of last season too. Wasting large leads in the table two seasons in a row, to finish 2nd both years.

    Best:

Wiltord winning us the league at OT
The Invincible season, or more specifically the last game against Leicester.
    The double in 98.

    Worst:
The 6-1 at OT. (Any defeat to them, come to think of it)
Wrexham in the FA cup in 1992.
