Jg Steyr Aug A1 Problem

I own a Jing Jong Steyr Aug A1 and whenever i try to shoot in semi the piston locks up. It shoots fine in auto but in semi it hardly ever shoots n semi it sounds like when the battery goes dead but that definitely isn't the problem. It has been doing this since i bought it. I have taken all of it apart except for the gear box and i haven't found any problems. I have a feeling it is the gears but i thought i would ask before taking the gearbox apart. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like the contacts for semi aren't positioned correctly/are dirty/that circut is badly wired.

You need to check the wires that run to the front contact, and that the shuttle is making a good connection. I dont know if grease is very conductive, but that is something to check, they should be clean.

I had exactly the same problem with my AUG (JG as well). I found an easy solution but it's not permanent.

Those two golden contacts were the problem. Actually one of them. The one further back should be bent more forward towards the lever, the other one should stay a little back. If the lever touches that contact then you'll get the single shot, if you press the lever further so that it touches the other contact it switches to full auto.

In my case this problem started out of another problem: a very stiff trigger action. If you got this as well I can explain how to fix it.

AFAIK those contacts should only touch for Auto.

Nope! They're the full auto contacts - bridging that contact makes it fire in full auto. The semi auto contacts are inside the gearbox in the usual place for a switch. Unlike most AEGs, AUGs have separate circuits for full and semi auto.

Finchig - sounds like a problem in the semi auto circuit - probably a bad connections. Check the switch block for corrosion or damage and look for any bad connections which may be giving a poor connection.

My jg steyr is doing the same thing. It sounds like its out of battery when i go semi but full auto works fine. I think the other guy is right about the contacts. One is suppose to be out farther than the other. When i took the gear box out i tested it and that seems to be correct. It it only touches one of the contacts its semi and if i push more it goes full. The only problem is is that it doesnt work when its all assembled in the gun. Does anyone know what to do. I also have a stiff trigger.

I take it back i beleive the other guy is right. Separate circuits for each. How do you get the semi auto switch? Do you have to open the gear box to do this?

    Yes you do
But I would warn against doing it if you are not handy with the tools
Many an airsofter has opened a gearbox easy enough to do, but getting it all back together again and working is a different matter
Why not bring it back to the shop where you got it, they will have someone there who can sort it out for you

If on the other hand you are like me and like doing this sort of work then go for it
You will find many helpfull videos on youtube, the AUG uses a V3 gearbox have a look at this video it should help you

So this was my first time taking apart a gear box. I striped it completely down and found where the contacts were, i cleaned them and checked the wiring it seemed to be good so i put it back together. I tested the gear box and it worked. I beleive the problem is fixed although i did not put it back into the gun to check for sure but when i pull the trigger down partially if fires once without touching the metal contacts, and then pressing fully down to the metal contacts full auto. So its seems all good now. Thanks
