First of all, if anyone hasn't seen this show I couldn't recommend it enough. it's absolutely epic and having just finished it today I think it is probably my favourite show ever. If you want to watch it don't read this. It'll destroy it. I'm leaving a massive blank here to stop it being ruined by the thread preview which ignores spoilers

What did people think of the way that
Shane killed his wife and kid and then himself in a plot point that was directly inspired by the Benoit double murder suicide
. Personally I thought it was brilliantly done and the moment
when Vic came back to the Barn and the whole place was in bits after what happened and it really reminded me of how I felt when I heard about Benoit
. Just curious to see if anyone else had seen it and whether they thought it was a respectful portrayal or a cheap publicity stunt

I was a fan of the Shield, until that prick Danial Pena a so called wrestling journalist who writes what he calls 'wrestling news', posted about The Shield in relation to wrestling without spoiler warnings on Rajah and ruined the last episode for me and 100's of others who were none too happy with him either.

Thank god I use the Observer. I'd recommend going back to it. The last episode shows up the Wire and the Soprano's really badly. Also, if you haven't seen season 5 you must

Does the show have anything to do with wrestling?

I'm not saying that in a "you shouldnt have posted it here" way...more in a "Id definitely watch it if it was" sort of way..

I think I was on series 4 but I have never gone back to it. Yes, it was my favourite show on TV. Dont know why it never really took off over here though I feel the fact that TV3 used to change the times and take a break mid-season for I'm a celebrity get me out of here had a bit to do with it.

Best buying it on DVD which is what I done. I find it hard to get into TV shows but I was hooked on The Shield. Still have the theme is my message ring tone on my phone. :D

You should watch it anyway but the last episode finishes a seven season story arc with a reference/homage to the
    Benoit double murder suicide
so posting it in the TV forum is kind of useless because I'm wondering what people who actually cared about
    Benoit
    thought about it

I was completely blown away by it.
Shane and family's story throughout the entire seventh series was fantastic, one episode in particular (it's been a while since I've seen it) where hey were hiding in a house with a pool, and just showed them all being happy ... followed up by the final episode. Obviously the benoit murder suicide came to mind when I saw the last episode. But I didn't link them directly, as I think there have been a number of murder suicides in Ireland over the last few years.

I don't think any episode of a tv show has registered with me so much though. Perfect television.

Yeah, I know the bit your talking about. The one where they're lounging about the pool they're staying in and messing around with Jackson and the Piano. Apparently though your man who wrote it changed the storyline once he heard of the Benoit tragedy and it's a completely direct reference

no more spoilers needed, ive changed the thread title so from this point on people are warned and if they come in here and have the shows finale ruined on them then thats their own fault.

Obviously please try to keep this related to the Benoit link so it is not completely off topic, the title was also changed to reflect this
