My number 1 hurley passed away this evening during training in an incident believed to be a block. A memorial service will be held in the coming days and details will be in all the local papers.

Farwell number 1, we hardly knew you. I hope you are in a better place now with all the other hurleys puking about and having fun in hurley heaven.

    Be all you can be.

I cracked my hurley in two playing down in the park a few weeks ago. I promptly tossed the piece of shít in the bin, got myself a new Flanagans hurley from Ken McGraths and haven't looked back since. That plank gave me nothing but trouble for years anyway!

    What?

They stole your sister? Did you get her back yet?

I still have the same hurley dating all the way back to 1994 (granted I only played competitively for two seasons). Now all it gets used for is regular puckarounds with the dog.

It depends on how it was broken. If it's broken along the shaft or snapped in half, then it's unfixable.

I may have it looked over by a fella in my club who fixes hurleys but to my eye the break looks unfixable.

Its really the bond i've formed with number 1 that i'll miss.

I have 3 more hurleys the same as number one but i'll have to start the bonding process all over again and i have a suspicion i may never have the same feeling again.

Its like when a teenager has their heart broken for the first time. :pac:

if it can't be saved, even though carpentry has moved on leaps and bounds in recent years,it could have just been it's time :( why not get it stuffed and monted over the fireplace, you can always look at it and think of the great times you had together.

one my my old man's from the 70's now has woodworm, but still enjoys a good life in the corner of the shed,i would never let it end up i one of those old wood homes :)

Sorry to hear about your hurl, I learned a long time ago not to get attached or give one hurl any extra attention. Otherwise you can be sure you'll smash it in your first decent challenge.
