I have a 100% legal paid up NTL connection. Was away until last Wed. On returning found I had zero TV service. Called them and they said they were working in the area and it would be back on Thursday. Was out till late on Thursday and never switched TV on. Came home from work Friday to find still no TV. Called again (35 mins on hold) Did all the check cables, unplug box ect. no luck so booked call out for Wed afternoon.
Got a call from them lunchtime to go through the "check cables" etc
Then out of interest I went outside to have a look and realised that the cables into the house have been unpluged. Phoned them and now they agree that they have disconnected me for 'tapping'. Confusion over the address apparently. Question is can I safetly replace the plugs myself. They are only about 8 feet up or do I have to wait till Wednesday. Not a huge telly watcher but you really miss it when it's gone.

Demand full compensation and perhaps a bit extra for inconvenience.

No,they'll have put an anti theft device on the tap port to stop cables just been screwed back on.

Same thing happended to me - UPC are pretty careless when disconnecting people - my neighbour had got peeved with them and changed to sky - they came out and disconnected me - a two year old would have spotted it was the wrong cable.

There response was not great while the compensation was miserly - but then again the same week Eircom managed to rewire a whole street back to front and correct the error on a one by one reported problems basis.....
