    I bought:

    3 x socks
    1 x jacket
    1 x shirt
    2 x shades

All for €31.93 - bargain! The shades are really good, and for €2.99 you can't go wrong! I bought my stuff at 08:30 this morning and there was tons of stuff left, although it was raining so perhaps everyone else had the right idea by staying at home! This was Lidl in Ballyvolane, Cork.

Got my stuff at lunchtime in Glasnevin, Dublin 11.

The jackets have zip-off sleeves too, so can be turned into tank tops and the T-Shirts are: " Coolmax® fabric: breathable, moisture regulating & quick dry"

So well worth it. Especially since I saw a Nike jacket in Champion / Lifestyle / one of those shops recently - very similar to the ones in Lidl today; only the Nike one was about €70!

Yeah but,........the Nike/Adidas/Ron Hill stuff is just better.
    It is.

You pay for quality. And quality lasts.

yeah but the jackets were €10, seven €10 jackets will last longer than one €70 jacket....

    Yeah but.....

Listen it's like the old joke about the difference between a sheep and a Lada.
And the punchline for that stands well here, when you substitute "Lada" with "Lidl gear".;)

It doesn't have 'Lidl' printed all over it! I don't think there's even any logo's printed on any of the gear. - If there is then it's minimal.

Anyway, with running gear I'd prefer quantity than quality (shoes excluded). I like to have a lot of different tops/ T-shirts etc. to choose from so I have a good clean supply ready every day!

With runners I can understand spending a bit extra for a decent pair. But really, good shoes are all you need. Any other gear will do. With regards to quality & it lasting longer... what do you get up to in your running gear? wrestling?!? :pac:

I don't know about that, the brands you mention above do not always produce quality gear.

    I'm OK with that.

As Nessa from "Gavin & Stacey" would say: "I feels better" with the right* gear on.
50% of doing anything is feeling right about it first, hence the right mental attitude, will, determination, right* gear, all play a part.

*what I think is right

Disclaimer: I may (or may not) have purchased running gear from one (or both) of the German Supermarkets in the recent past. Hence, my opinions.

Chances are the Nike/Addias/Ron Hill factories are side by side with the Lidl/Aldi factories in some small back lane in Vietnam and all raw material is supplied from the same crew so not a whole heap of difference ... but there stitching is great.

No socks left when I got to one of the shops in Galway at 2pm and the shorts are huge . good for training while I keep the "better" gear for the races .

Great, so you've gone 10 miles off topic and have a chaffed ass from wearing Nike gear that cost you as much as it cost the rest of us for 10 Lidl items ;)

    Got socks
    Shorts * 2
    Running top
    Jacket
    Trousers

Very happy with the quality. Just as good as the Nike and NB gear I have.

I had to go back and look for socks this evening as I forgot them earlier... the place was cleaned out!

Almost all the mens gear was gone, still plenty of ladies jackets available. I also picked up one of their heart rate monitors... first time using one so that should be fun! Apparently it also has a pedometer & speedo built in? Anyone have any experience with these & ideas of their accuracy??!?

Pedometers are only about 90 to 95% accurate. You have to calibrate them but if you vary your speed much they won't be that accurate. Eventually that will drive you mad and you'll buy a garmin gps....

Cheers, what about the reliability of the HRM?

I have heard their HRM's are fine. I bought one myself even though I already have a Garmin, mainly because I gather they work in Combo with most standard Gym equipment. i.e. if you wear your strap on the treamill/cross trainer/bike in the gym, your HR will be picked up by the machine.

My local one didn't have any of the blue ladies jackets in my size at 9am today

There were loads of those left up in Walkinstown at 7.30pm this evening- the ladies really got a good deal with the removeable sleeves on that one!!

I actually went to the one on the Grange Rd first and there was virtually nothing left but the one in Walkinstown still had everything including loads of HRMs

Where abouts are you? The one in Glasnevin, D11 had LOADS of ladies stuff left when I went back around 8pm last night...

    I managed to pick up

    1 x Jacket
2 x Running Shorts (legging type)
    1 x Trousers
    1 x Top
    3 x socks
1 x Glasses to keep the sleet out of my eyes this summer

All fits well for under €50

But a bit of advice needed. With the Mens Leggings and Mid lenght shorts, there's no inner "Satsuma Net" to keep everything in place, like the conventional shorts. Should I wear a small pair of running shorts under them or let everything run free? Dont fancy finding out the hard way, I've enought carpet burns etc from water belts, dont need any more chaffing.

I got a few bits yesterday and I'm happy overall! Just have a few comments on the sizing which might help out some of the other girls! :)

    - Jacket - light and comfy, my only negative comment is that the zips don't seem of fantastic quality but for €10 it's great. Sizing was fine - pretty much in line with adidas/nike, certainly not more generous (I got the black one)

    - Capris - The sizing is a bit larger than the likes of adidas, nike etc. but overall they're fine.

    - Socks - I got the 35-38 socks, I'm a 38 and was worried they might be tight but there is loads of room in them (they would be swimming on a size 35/36). I'd say they would comfortably fit a 39/39.5 (I know the next size up was sold out in my local lidl).

My dad bought the HRM and gave it to me to try out - the watch is too big for my wrist so I can't wear it (it's very wide and digs into my wrist bones if that makes sense) , so I'm glad I didn't buy it myself! I have tiny wrists though so I always have this problem!

I'm normally a boxers man, for everyday use.... but when running I find a snug pair of briefs under the shorts always does the job well

I've just come back from the Greystones Lidl and there are loads of Ladies Jackets left in all sizes. I got a black one. And seemed to be loads of other stuff left too. (Greystones folks don't go for the Lidl stuff it seems ;):D)

ran in them today and yesterday, got absolutely soaked today and no blister issue for me so I'm happy (and relieved) I bought 8 pairs :D

+1 on the socks. I used them yesterday, and they're quite comfy. Sorry I only bought two pairs now.

I also got a pair of the running "trousers". It's not easy to try them on in the middle of a supermarket, so I wasn't sure they'd fit. Anyway, I'm well impressed. They are a bit looser and warmer than the normal kind of running tights. Great value.
