Remixing Audio files...

    Howdy,

    Does anyone know how to remix a tune which is in audio format? I recently started using Ableton and am currently plodding my way tutorials etc. Ableton allows you to sample mp3s etc which is good for some things but the majority of the time I find that I only want to sample a vocal, or a synth line; a single track. So.. is there a way of breaking up an audio tracks by frequency or something which will allow you to access the vocal track of a tune for example. The only other alternative I can think of is to get access to the source tracks which is impossible most of the time.

    All ideas welcome. Maybe there is some software which can do this?

    There's some plugins and software which will let you easily isolate channels... This could help you remove/isolate vocals, but really, professional remixers get access to the original tracks...

    At some point there will be cheap and good unmixing software, but we're not there yet.

    Yea, seems that a signature would have to be appended to each track in the bounce to enable full de-mixing software.

    Any ideas on the names of the channel isolation plugins/sw? And eh.. by channel what exactly do you mean? :confused:

    Never really get good results..... will usually just sound out of phase :D and a bit like a crap MP3 :D
