Darnit, I already booked tickets last week! How do you find out about these codes?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,498 ✭✭✭✭cson

Seriously lads, read the thread. It's been mentioned already that it was on their facebook page. Simple thing to do is join Irish Rail on Facebook and Twitter and then you'll always be first to hear of any discount codes.

Seriously cson, I have never been on Twitter or Facebook so wondered if there had been any other way of finding out about the code!!!!!

And I am not a LAD, I am a lady, middle-aged, and probably old enough to be your great grandmother, judging by your response!!

    Thank you for replying anyway.

    Dear Jellybaby1,

The heartiest of apologies Ms Middle-Aged-Old-Enough-To-Be-My-Great-Grandmother [ps I've got a rather wrong view of what middle aged is if you are indeed old enough to be great grandmother ]

Alas middle age does not perclude one from joining twitter or facebook [unfortunately] and they would even be what some would call easy to join. No need to add rebellious young types as your friend; you can just have Irish Rail as your lone companion on facebook thus saving the necessity to post in this thread looking for those discount codes [shouldn't you be getting a sizeable discount as it is? Surely if you're old enough to be my great grandmother then an OAP pass is in order?] Nonetheless, join now my dear and save yourself the hassle of having to deal with young upstarts like myself in future!

Failing that; if you read the posts thoroughly on the thread beforehand, your answer may lie therein as was the case in this situation ;) [But don't worry, I know the sight can sometimes become a touch hazy in middle age]

    Yours,

    cson

    Young Upstart Great Grandchild

    Dear Cson

In this instance I described myself as middle-aged and ‘old enough to be your great grandmother’ as I assumed from your rather petulant reply that you were all of 14 years old. You know that age when boy or girl turns into something almost sub-human during their teenage years? They do improve over time of course.

Anyway your last reply has led me to believe that you are actually an adult, although I am sorry to learn that you describe yourself as a ‘young upstart’. I am sure you are very far from that. I just wish you hadn’t been so irritable on our first encounter. It could have been so much sweeter.

Anyway, back to Irish Rail. Unfortunately I am not old enough to benefit from an OAP travel pass, so that’s not available to me.

I know that middle age does not preclude me from joining Twitter or Facebook. You are confusing me with those who wish to join those sites. Friends who do use those websites tell me that they take up quite a lot of their time but seem to have become addicted. I have decided not to join up. So I shall have to forego those wonderful codes which you are so lucky to have.

Finally, I have perfect vision, I did read the thread thoroughly and I asked a polite question which seems to have irked you somewhat. And, it’s funny really, it is quite obvious that you do not even feature on the thread before I asked my question. So to be honest, I can’t see how my question should even concern you, but it was sweet of you to reply anyway.

I have enjoyed your company. Perhaps one day we will meet on the train cson. I do hope so. We could talk over old times together.

Dubmick, I just loved your ‘Zing’ response!

    Your question posted 31/3/10

Your answer was in the thread ;)

Not to worry though dear, hopefully we'll meet on the train this weekend and you can regale me with tales of ye olde Ireland before fancy facebook. :)
