    Hi folks,
    Any help here appreciated.

Yesterday i was downloading SPYBOT (free version) following the advise of a friend. All was going well and at the same time as the down load I also opened boards as I wanted a recipe from the cooking section. After a few minutes the computer completely froze. Nothing would work. Boards was open on the recipe.Control+Alt+Del did nothing. In the end i just switched the computer off and then back on again. The usual thing came up on the screen about switching off( windows not closing down etc) but now, when the computer goes through that, it just goes blank. The cursor arrow is visable and moveable but nothing else comes up on the screen, it's totaly blank.

Is this fixable by me or should I just leave it in somewhere to be fixed ?

Thanks in advance for any help

Can you boot to Safe Mode by pressing F8 as you boot up? If so then once you're in here you can try a system restore, uninstall Spybot or run checkdisk.

If you can't, do you have your windows CD? If so put this in the CD drawer and press F12 as it boots and it will give you the option to boot from CD drive. Then run a repair, it will prompt you to press R to run repair. This may get you up and running.

TRY reboot, hold f8 for 5 seconds , safe mode directory services restore .USE arrow keys ,scroll thru menu to above, press enter key.
IF it works ,you could back up your mp3s, data from say november 09, then use windows restore point to go back to last restore point.eg november 2009.
    Backup to a usb hd,or to 2nd partition hd,or harddrive 2.
EG only save new data,mp3s saved on the pc since nov 2009.
AND you could boot from cd,use a linux livecd .
