    I use them and nothing else. I've tried other shells and while lads will have their own personal preferences i think the Eley Olympic are great. That and the price of €42 per 250, you cannot go wrong.

    .....

    Sean in Stakelums in Thurles. He has a good stock of them. Also has Eley Superb. They are better than the Olympic but are roughly €55 per 250.

    The RC's are a very good shell, a mate that i travel and shoot with uses RC 3's buys 10,000 at a time and swears by them.
    Irish prices for shells are extortionate by comparison to Northern Ireland
    Price compared Eley superbs a month or so ago,
    NI =£165
    Eire= €220-€240
    Doesn't add up!
    Currently using HULL Pro ones ;170 per 1000

    I have used Hull Pro 1 's for a long time now and find them very good
    The last 1000 I bought cost me €200. If you store these in a warm place (IE hot press) you will not have any trouble with dirty barrels

    Hi all,
    Eley Olympics are good value. There a decent shell like all eley a bit punchy but a great killer. I paid the equiv of 130euro per 1000 last year in a certain part of the country. Sorry i didn' buy more. The Irish dealers are killing shooting in the present climate. Shell prices are exorbitant. Clay shooting prices are a total rip off. What a dumb lot. lower prices even 20% drop would see alot more people shooting. I have had to cut back on my shooting as have alot of my friends. I have heard from a good source that Hull Soverign are going to cost 250 per 1000 v soon. They can hold on to them at that price. I have noticed a few northern shooters using a red shell from Bacheri and pelligrini called a vogue T1. They are plastic and have the gordon wad system They sell at 130stg per 1000 in the north. Its a pity the northern dealers are reluctant to sell to southern shooters. Heres to the current shooting establishment(Dealers, Clay grounds and dont forget the Authorities) whom are destroying clay shooting in the South. Nice one you tight fisted scrounging F****rs.
    I case you havent heard it theres a recession on get with it and drop your prices.

    Nice to get that off my chest

    Courtlough shooting grounds in balbriggan sell the eley olympics at €45 for 250 and €160 for 1000. Fairly reasonable price. Not sure if you have to be a member of the club to get them at that price though....

    Hi all,
    Many thanks for that. Its mad to think that this works out at 14cent per shell. It also costs at least 30cent a clay so it costs at least 44cent every time you call pull. Thats mad in this current climate. Im just mad as the dealers and the shooting grounds havnt reduced their prices and I cant afford to shoot anymore as I am on a two day week. My friends are also feeling the pinch and have seriously curtailed their shooting. I suppose shooting was always the preserve of the well off. Its going back to that again.

    Regards

    If I'm not mistaken, a registered DTL shoot is now 7.5% cheaper than it was last year and you now have the option to shoot "birds only" which is even cheaper again. Nothing wrong with that!
