Savage Model 12 F/Tr - cheek piece.... Design fault?

my annoyance?? - query design fault on model 12 f/tr rifle
every time i want to clean the rifle, i have to unscrew the raised cheek piece?
[i simply cannot get the extra long dewey rod and breech guide to line up with the cheek piece in-situ]
i have struggled with this for some time since last autumn.
i have half decided to maybe change the stock and to this end i have found upon, SSS - http://www.sharpshootersupply.com/, in particular the LVT stock - Laminate Varmint Tactical Stock.

and i just discovered an easier solution and may be cheaper....

    what yaa think?

    Hey Bud.

Seen them on some of the American savage rifle team rifles. They look good, just two drill holes and your good to go. I have the LVF stock from SSS on my savage and Im very happy with it.

    I bought a karsten yest.
I'll intall it upon delivery next week.
I'll take pic and send it on.
    After shooting it of course!!
I bought it because they can be used ambidexterous and hence can be used left or right handed.

Just got my Karsten Cheek piece fitted by the great Fergal White.
    Man is a Genius!!
I say some amazing barrel and stock configurations in the workshop

I have a Remington 700 with an adjust cheekpiece now.
Rifle goes straight up to my shoulder with out straining my neck.
Brilliant Job By the WolfMan ;)
