New Project - Old Skool Diamond Back Apex cr-mo

28-03-2010 8:47pm#1Following on from my Peugeot project, I decided to resurrect yet another old steel frame, this time my first MTB - A Diamond Back Apex.
It was bought second hand as a frame back in 1993, and I had it running on 7 speed LX for a couple of years until I switched the frame over to my (still going strong) Trek 8500.
The frame material is mighty steel -Tange Cr-Mo Double Butted MTB.
It looks a little worse for wear, but what would you expect after sitting ina damp shed for 15 years!
I'm going to keep this build as simple as possible, and reuse as much old parts as possible - no carbon parts allowed.
It originally had canti brakes, but a set of Vs may be donated from another machine, I still have the brake/shift levers somewhere....
PS, the seatpost came out, with a good bit of WD40, vice grip and a little heat.
