Hi I'm planning to import just the body of an A&K Masada from the Philippines it doesn't come with the gearbox just the body itself. The question is would custom Allow it or should I dismantle it and be sent as separate parcels. I said without the gearbox because the fps there Is too high. Any advice on this will be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I'd just like to throw my question in this thrad too fi thats ok

Similarly if I was to purchase a M203 /Grenade to go with it in the future from a Asian country, Would it be stopped by customs? Im not sure on the restrictions on atatchments as such. Cheers! :)

customs will hold aeg's pistols and anything that looks like an imitation firearm. the body of the masada is hit or miss. i would say you might be ok but then again i would call and ask what is the story. the grenade i would say you are ok as it is an accessory, but then again it does fire a projectile even if it doesn't have a barrell or conventional trigger. be safe and ask or you could have a big shock with a tab of a hundred euro from the revenud department. happened to a mate of mine

the import ban is not here yet so you might get away with it. Although anything that looks like a real firearm will more than likely be checked. From what i hear customs regard the bill to be in so will test most stuff.

Is there any restrictions currently on an attatchment such as the M203?

Eg: AEG's etc must be under or 1 Joule of power.

Its an accessory that fires a projectile like any other airsoft device so I guess it falls under the same rules of 1 joule.

Once the ban comes in they will be covered under the same.
The IAA is your best guys to ask.

Nice one. I sent a little email asking for clarification on the M203. I'll post my findings later for future referance.

I'm having this idea of sending it in 3 different parcels first is upper and lower receiver of course without the gearbox, then next is the stock then the outer barrel and the hand guard. I might get away with it LOL. Anyways thanks for the advices lads. I'll post if I manage to receive the items.

You shouldn't have any problem inporting it if theres no gearbox in there, in fact by sending it in several packages you are probably more likely to to trigger suspicion than if you just send the lot.

Worst case scenario is customs will hold your package for inspection, you'll still get it though if its not a complete gun (under 1J).:)

    EDIT:
    10'000th post FTW!

There are a couple of issues here so I will try and adress them all as best I can.

    1. The import ban is not in place yet, so until we notify you otherwise, it's business as usual
    2. The import ban refers to all RIFs, not just aegs. My understanding would be that it could be argued that a m203 launcher is a RIF
    3. The 1 joule limit applies to anything that fires a projectile. M203 grenades are subject to the 1 joule limit.
    4. All imported airsoft goods are potentially subject to vat / duty, and as such are liable to inspection by customs.
    5. It's not clever to get split parcels or fake invoices to evade your responsibilities. Contrary to popular belief, customs are not that stupid. If they catch you out, at best, it may work out expensive - at worst, your purchase may get destroyed with no recourse to refund. Customs here are very aware what some retailers do (split guns, fake invoices, fake joule certs), so please make sure you do your homework first - caveat emptor is the phrase of the day.
