Son missing a tooth, common?

    My 2 year old has most of his first teeth now, but one next to the two middle bottom teeth never came up. Presumably this means when his second teeth come through that same tooth will be missing?

    Is this something Dentists see often and will any treatment be needed? I did try Googleing but couldn't really see any other stories of similar problems.
