Actors/Actresses That You Hate For No Apparent Reason........

Every time I see Jim Carrey on screen, I get an irresistable urge to void my bowels and hurl projectile vomit at the tv.......I don't know why exactly, because he appears to be a popular actor, invariably in box-office hits.
He reminds me of Jerry Lewis, whom I have a similar aversion to.......:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

Anybody else got the same gripe about a particular actor/actress????

I'm not sure if its Jim Carrey or some of the scripts / personas he is willing to take up. There has been a few films where he isn't acting the over the top eejit where he's OK.

I'm distinctly not enthusiastic about Kurt Russell and his lookalike Dennis Quaid. Jeff Bridges is much better. EDIT or Martin Donovan.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, The Majestic and The Truman Show would be perfect examples of that.
I just steer clear of any of his comedies...

    For me it's Nicole Kidman.

She's not a bad actress, I just can't stand her, for whatever reason.

Watching her in anything just makes me cringe.

Wouldn't say i hate either of these people as i don't personally know them but i don't like them as actors.

Harrison Ford - boring, boring, boring. Same performances again & again. Yes he has been in some great movies but they're not made great by his presence.

Courtney Cox - can't stand the squeaky chipmunk voice.

Jim Carey just overacts a lot of the time. It's perfectly reasonable to find him annoying. Nic Cage is another that gets on my tits. But I think in both cases a lot of it is to do with them being overrated. It probably wouldn't bug me so much if people didn't rave about how good they are.

I don't think I "hate" anyone, but I generally dislike Jude Law's work. One exception was Road to Perdition, in which he played a truly nasty character who never spoke.

You are the type of what the age is searching for, and what it is afraid it has found. I am so glad that you have never done anything, never carved a statue, or painted a picture, or produced anything outside of yourself! Life has been your art. You have set yourself to music. Your days are your sonnets.

I hate Pierce Brosnan and I have reasons...

    1. He really is'nt talented,I cringe every time I see him in something which is increasingly rare as I tend to avoid him now.

    2. He just seems like a right West Brit fake..

    3. Etc,etc...

Robin Williams is my only true hate figure.

I have niggly silly little issues with a good handful of actors (don't like Tom Cruise or Keanu Reeves much) but I utterly despise Robin Williams. I'd actually like to hurt him. That "I'm zany" rapid fire shtick thing is incredibly unfunny and irritating. Either that or he's horribly sickly and cloying.

Back when Good morning Vietnam came out I thought I had actually lost my mind as I seemed to be the only person on the planet who didn't think he was a genius.

And don't start with the "oh he's really good at being creepy" (Insomnia, One hor photo etc) because he's not.:p

    He's just marginally less annoying.

+1 for Robin Williams, can't stand the man.

Keanu Reeves just appears unhinged whenever he tries out a facial expression.

Emma Thompson just annoys me for breathing.

Kiera Knightley, for that grimacing smile.

Gary Oldman, for that whole Lost In Space thing. I liked him until I saw that.

Don cheadle wrecks my bulb. Its weird cos I love his films and he is a great actor but something annoys me about him.
forrest whitaker is another one that I hate for no reason.
Jessica simpson should just give up life because I hate her so much. She should actually get a seany vibe to give up, its that bad.
brad pitt, angelina jolie and edward norton get on my bulb also. Even though I love some of their movies.

Never could explain why Nicole Kidman just makes me want to throw the telly out the window everytime she is on but she does have that affect on me. Jean Claude Van Damme has a similar reaction, although I would never say it to him :D

Pretty much all rappers that 'try their hand' at acting.

I can't stand Nick Nolte. No idea where it came from, but find it hard to watch anything he is in!

Also, Jim Carrey - makes my skin crawl.

Joan Cusack and her brother isn't far off either. I loved him in the Sure Thing and High Fidelity but he's gone way downhill these days.

Toby Maguire..I remember reading a magazine one day and there was a picture of him in boxers posing on a chair. It read 'Pin up Toby Maguire...'. Do women really fancy him???!!! I wouldn't if I was in the height of a dry spell and he was the only man on earth. Just no. He can't act either or maybe he can and I miss how great he is cause I sit there dreaming up ways to kill him. What a face...grrrr

Also, people like Beyonce and Maria Carey should stick to singing.....cringe when they 'star' in a 'film'.

    Will Farrell,
    Jack Black.

Both "actors" think they are funny when all they do is "SHOUT" quite a lot which isnt funny. Also they cannot act.

Oh lord, everytime I think of 'Evelyn', I shudder! Truly awful film, hard to believe but his 'Irish accent' would give Cruise/Kidman a run for their money in 'Far and Away'.

I might be making this up, but a lot of actors practise their Irish accent by eating hot food and talking at the same time.

Jim Carrey is a genius comic actor! His overacting is the whole point in movies like the Cable Guy and Ace Ventura.

On topic, Dakota Fanning I find quite irritating. I'm sure there's others too.

The thing about acting is that there are so many great actors who we have never seen. Its not really about talent anymore its about luck.

You can bet your ass that alot of the young female talents have slept with someone important who in turn used there influence to land her a role etc. etc

Being in the big movies isn't a barometer of how good an actor you are, it just shows that you have been incredibly lucky. Chances are a 60yr old man who stars in your local play has 10 times the acting talent of Michael caine. But he doesn't have the name.

Some actors who don't strike me as having alot of talent are, Tom Hanks (very mediocre), George Clooney (same smug bollix in all his movies), Adam Sandler (same niche viewship in all his films) and Leo Di Caprio (ok hes just crap). Brad Pitt is also an absolutely pants actor, really crap.

Its pretty much down to looks in the end aswell.

Now as for actors I don't like, cannot stand Michael Douglas for that annoying voice of his, Nicholas Cage is an annoying f*cker too.

Colin Farrell is pretty cack too. In his case i'm gunna use a great analogy. His good looks got him an invitation to the party, but ya need talent to be able to stay there and dance. And he ain't dancing.

Most British gentleman type actors such as Hugh Grant, Colin Firth, Jude Law, Michael Caine (being an old man with a cockney accent to stand out from the crowd doesnt make ya a good actor). Talking in a grand british accent isnt representative of the normal speak :D Clive Owen isn't too bad though.

Andi McDowall, Angelina Jolie and Rene Zellewegger are pretty crap too.

A previous poster mentioned how they hate seeing rappers trying there hand at acting, however i think it shows how farcical it is when these random rappers dont look all that out of place amongst the so called more established stars.

    Anyway rant over :D

    Daniel Day-goddamned-Lewis.
    Really? Despite this-

... being one of the greatest moments of screen acting in the history of film?! And that's not hyperbole.

    Anyway, back on topic-

Brendan Fraser. Possibly the most punchable actor working.

  • Moderators, Arts Moderators Posts: 35,724 Mod ✭✭✭✭pickarooney

Juliette Lewis. Thankfully I haven't seen her in a long time, but if we're ever in a train carraige together one of us will die.

Unless Tom Hanks is there and I concentrate on pushing him under the wheels instead.

1.Ben Affleck (a waxwork at Tussauds has more charisma)
    2.Martin Lawrence (unfunny chancer)
    3.Steve Martin
4.Anna Farris (for 'contributing' to the demise of the spoof genre)
    5.The Wayans Bros (absolute ****wits)

I see Sarah Jessica Parker has been mentioned a few times and I fully agree but her husband annoys me very much too. Matthew Broderick. Can't quite put my finger on it and I even like some of the films he's been in but he irritates the hell out of me.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,109 ✭✭✭sutty

Sarah Jessica Parker is a big one for me, cant stand the ugly cow..

But my biggest is Ricky Gervais... fecking no talent hack. Cant stand him, even seeing adds for his shows/movies makes me want to punch the TV.
