Its not pole, its a poll, and I think the functionality was removed from general use for good reasons. And probably the winner would be either Labour or Sinn Fein. The forum isnt a good barometer of the wider Irish electorate.

The problem with straw polls is that they don't stand up. Still, try asking sceptre.

Personally, after the current set of muppets we presently have, I'd prefer to vote for Dustin the turkey in an online poll.
It would be just as effective and as accurate, and thats the truth I suspect.

I find this part odd seeing as there are dozens of people on this thread trying to convince people that this forum is a close representation of the greater population, a good reflection of the mood of the people.
Boards.ie is only the sum total of it parts, ie the posters. As a website it does not take any view on the public sector. The views being expressed on this forum every day are merely a reflection of the deep and profound anger the private sector taxpayer feels towards the public sector, who it has to pay for inefficient and costly services.

boards.ie the website does not hold opinions about things.

It's a forum where the public hold a free and fair interchange of opinions and has shown itself in recent times to have a membership which is very closely representative to the public at large.

You can take it for granted that it if it looks like the membership of boards.ie are very opposed to something, then the public at large are probably also very opposed to it.

Boards.ie is a cross-section of the country, and the country has been manipulated into blaming 'greedy public servants' / 'greedy banking executives' / 'greedy developers' (delete own employment sector) for the recession rather than the governments complete failure to act as financial regulator.

And even if it is not, there is no harm in getting a measure of where the posters stand and what the outcome would be in terms of destructiveness to FF and the Greens

Sorry - I wasn't clear earlier. There is no poll button, and it is not possible for anyone other than an Admin to create a poll. You will have to ask sceptre or oscarBravo.

I think theyre trying to convince people that boards.ie doesnt have an editorial position on the public sector.

The people are somewhat mistaken in their beliefs of boards reflection of society - I have no figures, but I assume its membership is mostly younger than average (though aging), probably richer than average, probably more urban (infrastructure), certainly more tech savvy than average and more extreme in their views than average - if youre going to take time to post on political issues (for example) you are probably far more opinionated than the average person who cant even be bothered to vote and doesnt know who the Taoiseach is.

Thats why you have a mysterious disconnect between polls of Politics posters and the wider public and why polls here are relatively pointless.

That of course doesnt change the essential point: boards.ie doesnt have an editorial position on the public sector. Its a message board, not a political party.
