    Hi,

In a moment of complete stupidity yesterday I broke the screen on my laptop. It's all cracked and nothing shows.

It's a HP dv-5 1211ea that's not even a year old. Is it worth fixing or is it time for a new one? Any idea of costs?

Thanks in advance for any help

    Go to page 76

You can pick up a screen on adverts.ie or on ebay

If you cant fix it your self it may not be worth fixing going by the pric's some place's charge if you were in dublin i could do it for you at a good price mabe some one on here in cork could do it that no's what they are doing.

    Thanks for your reply.

I'd consider repairing it myself alright but would be slightly worried about making a hash of it. There's a chance I may be in Dublin in next week or so and if I am ill drop you I pm.

If anyone in cork wants to pm me if they could do it feel free...

I've gotten a few prices to fix it.

    A place here in Reading - £150

    Cork - €165

Anyone any comments on those prices? After reading up on the DIY side I'd probably prefer to hand it in somewhere:o

just in case you haven't already checked make sure the laptop works on an external monitor first.
