Can you explain your setup in layman's terms? A photo/diagram etc would be perfect. Think Claiva already asked for that.

Waste of money... but people seem set on using this solution when its not needed.
The only need I can see for using that cable would be if you wanted to send audio to an external audio receiver when your TV did not have audio ouputs or an old AV receiver with no hdmi.

By doing it through the xbox (opti-out) you can have the volume in the tv off and do the adjusting from your headset.

Dont know how voice chat would work doing it your way

If you look on the back of your tv there should be a red and white connectors(marked audio OUT, not to be confused with the audio IN which will look the same), the same that are on the cable that was posted above. These can be used for your turtle beach to get audio to play through the headphones.
By buying the above cable all you are doing is taking the audio before it goes to the TV. I don't see a need for this as the control of ingame chat/audio volume for the headphones is primarily controlled by the amp/control box of the turtle beaches(small white box on wire).

Most modern TV will have an optical out connection on the TV which will do the same thing, if you want to use the optical connection. Can also use the rca(red/white) connection and then there should be an option in the TV sound menu to play sound through a receiver which will have the same effect as well.

These are output connections has nothing to do with the voice chat.
That is handled by the xbox(usb/wire connection from turtle beach amp to wireless controller) and then outputed to the TV.

Ah, okay. I'll check both of mine out. So basically if you have an Audio Out, you don't need that HDMI cable set.

I might go for the X31's. So is it correct to assume you only need to physically connect the headset to the controller? This is where it gets power? I'm using the play and charge kit so chewing batteries isn't really a problem.

No get rechargable batteries (AAA) they go in the headset, you'll get over a week out of them.

Duracell triple a's make sure they are 1000mAh or better . i'll send you a pic in a while.
I picked mine up at b&q

I bought one of these a few years back. I've a supply of about 20 batteries built up at this stage, for use in all my remotes etc, and use 6 of them for my XBox controller. 2 in the unit, two in a spare battery back beside my seat for when the batteries die mid game, and 2 on the charger block.

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/UniRoss-X-Press-Classic-Rechargeable-Batteries/dp/B0002LHX8Y/ref=sr_1_13?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1274111483&sr=1-13

It takes AA and AAA batteries.

how long are the wires and how many of them are there, i have enough of them to be tripping over as it is but dont see a wireless headset thats compatible with ps3 and xbox happening

As far as I know the wires are plenty long....like 16 feet or something. Its one cable that splits at the end to plug into the xbox/ps3 and tv

I bought the ax 720's a few months ago & I really like them. After reading plenty of good reviews I decided to get them.

They have 5.1 simulated surround sound.Other headsets might have 5.1 or 7.1 true surround sound but it makes little to no difference according to reviews & videos, only in price.

They work perfectly in mw2,its a different game when I have them on,very durable & well built too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,099 ✭✭✭✭2smiggy

have ordered a set of the 720's off US ebay. hopefully will not be disappointed. for the amount of mw2 i play the price is worth it i think

It can take a little while to get used to them , dont have the game volume blaring.

Does take a while alright, and I still sometimes miss footsteps that I could have heard. But even for game atmosphere they are worth it. But I do find that you need them up quite loud to give you a good chance of hearing footsteps. Problem then is when there are planes flying over head. Very loud etc.

That's why I'm determined to get SitRep Pro this prestige. 4 times louder footsteps with headphones would be beast. And since HeartBeat sensors are not that common anymore, Ninja isn't as key.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,099 ✭✭✭✭2smiggy

just prestieged again, had sit rep pro, with the double points i thought it best to prestige but would have like to wait to see what the head phones are like with that perk

I was playing last night in the Boards comp. I had the headset turned up really loudly to soundwhore as much as possible. I got a Stealth Bomber and sent it down the middle of the map, close to where I was. As it thundered overhead, the headphones were actually vibrating on my ears. Think I had them too loud.....

(I killed myself with the Bomber btw. :o:rolleyes: )

Sorry for hijacking the thread, but..... Jaysus you must have the patience of Job, to get Sit rep Pro :D, how long did it take you? any tips, best gamemodes, maps..etc etc..??
I know it's up to the people your playing, whether they use claymores, Tac Insert etc..
It's not unlocked till LVL 37, Did you get the 120 required for Pro before Lvl 70 or did you stay at 70 till you unlocked it?? and most importantly would you do it again...:D

I've not unlocked it, but am determined to try it this time for the extra footstep volume. I'd say FFA is a great mode for it, particularly if you are hunting boosters with their TI's.

Ive used sit rep for so long Iv nearly destroyed 400 claymores ect..:D
It says enemy footsteps become 4 times louder but id say its 2 times louder at the most, which is plenty.I use it over ninja mainly because I hate hearing my teammates footsteps & any footsteps I do hear I know its automatically an enemy. But I would recommend ninja for FFA & S&D.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,099 ✭✭✭✭2smiggy

had it for a while, but prestiged as soon as i got to 70. put it straight on as soon as i got to level 37 , played with it for nearly ever class., just determined to get it. i play alot of search and destroy and team deathmatch , just get lucky some matches every one has claymores set. can be a bit of a slog getting it though. but you can really hear footsteps. i got the ax 720 headphones yeaterday , just wish i would have kept at level 70 for a while longer. now at level 38 or so and about 10/120 into sit rep again

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,099 ✭✭✭✭2smiggy

also FFA and hc team DM is good for getting sit rep as alot of camping goes on, so alot of claymores to shoot. i don't really like playing these games though
