Cheaper here and they'll have them in stock sooner, postage is about 10Euro and pretty quick, got my X1s from them :)

Who delivers for them here? Are they sent with DHL or will they arrive with Anpost?

Only after getting the px21's today, at Game in Cruises street, Limerick (€90), while i've only played a few games, I must say they're a mighty bit of kit..totally different game when you use them...:eek:.. while it'll take me awhile to get fully used to using them...your advantage while playing (especially FFA or S&D) is 10 fold...the footsteps, gunfire position etc.. is spot on..(and i've been using surround sound) if your on the fence about using headphones (and can afford them) don't think another second about it..:D:D:D

    Hi,
Are the Px 21's compatable with the XBox 360 ?

Edit: it's ok, I watched the clip. They are compatable.
    Cool. They look great.
How do they compare to the X11's etc ?

be careful using them with the elite - you can't use them and the hdmi cable, have to switch back to the composite cable.

    Really ?
    Are you sure ?
I thought they were usb ?
I've a HDMI Arcade console (Jasper).
There's no way I'm unplugging the HDMI.

actually - no I'm not sure that these are the same ones as I had. I bought a pair of Turtle beach , can't remember the model numbers, afair the usb works for chat, but for game sound you need to plug it into the audio out of the xbox (which means using the composite cable as you don't have room for both the cable and the hdmi).

    edit:
just had a look at this doc:
    http://www.turtlebeach.com/LinkClick.aspx?fileticket=%2bkPRTc8b4IM%3d&tabid=743

and yeah - it's the same as my ones. It works ok on the normal xbox, but on the elite, you don't have room to have the AV cable and the hdmi cable plugged in at the same time - I stress, this only affects the elite tho, it worked ok on the normal xbox.

I've a pair of USB headphones but can't get them to work on the xbox, do they have to be x box compatible?

You say you HAD them, do you still have them ?
    If not, why not ?
Everyone I've spoken seems to love them once they try them and could never see themselves without them again !

no, I got my money back because I couldn't use them with the HDMI cable. Also, when I tried to just use them for chat, using the usb, the feedback was wicked - tho that seems to just have been a problem for me.

edit: have to say, when I did use them, they were great, really good. but I just didn't want to drop the HDMI connection.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,692 ✭✭✭shawpower

Yeah, I have to drop mine to a Composite cable cause I haven't bought the HDMI connector yet. I must do that, cause when I move from the 37" screen (comp) to the 42" (hdmi) it's a lot nicer on screen. Oh well. More money.

There was a link floating around to one of those HDMI connectors. Anyone know where you can buy them off the top of your head?

I'm not, but that's the connector I think I need? I'm just using the standard XBox component cable that came with the consol. My understanding is that your link would allow me to play via HDMI again with the headset?

Yeah , the elites used to come with that cable but not any more.

To be quite honest up to about 3.30pm yesterday I thought the same..:D the minute you slap em on it's unreal....( and I'm still getting used to them TBH.. i.e when someone fires a Barrett 50.cal even from the otherside of the map, it's so loud you think he's standing beside you, still frightens the fook out of me at times..:D).. I'm now starting to realise how many times I was caught out by these feckers, walking into to buildings only for you to meet your opponent looking ADS ready to blow you to smitherns....:).. I'll never again willingly go into a game without Ninja Pro, (when I prestige next I'll be a nervous wreck till level 29...:D)...

Another thing that pushed me towards the PX21's is that they DO work with both PS3 & Xbox 360....I have a PS3 and a Xbox Elite (that HDMI AV cable came with the Xbox, I got mine shortly after launch so must have been standard then, pity :( ) I could never justify buying 2 sets of TB's and didn't want to have 1 console with headsets and the other without....SIMPLES..;)

As for the €90 price, thats what they're retailing for... the €200+ are the upper market of TB headsets, without having used them i'm sure the quality and build,etc..are I presume better....but AFAIK, the PX21 are the only ones to do both consoles .... as i said in my earlier post (if you can afford them) get em they're well worth it.... and i'm sure (let google be your friend..;) ) there are cheaper TB (or other brands) headsets which are just PS3 or Xbox specific..

any shops around dublin selling them or do i have to go online ? the only time i saw the turtle beach's was in blanchardstown shopping centre and that was the 200 quid ones so rather not buy them if i can get a decent set for 90 . actually 90 quid is pretty pricy but ive heard descriptions of people tracking tactical insertions using them so its a must have really :D
ps what about xbox and pc ??????

The PX21's are a new release, so if you check Blanchardstown again they might have them, if not i'm sure they'll order them for you.

Yes i'll agree with you, €90 is a bit pricey but, as I said ,if you can afford them they're worth every penny.

As for the tactical insertion "tracking" ,these sounds ,along with footsteps etc.etc. are part of the game sounds. you can track them without headsets(don't want you thinking you can only hear these sounds with a headset).it's just obviously that using the headset lets you hear these without waking the whole neighborhood. :D:D

I'm really getting used to it now, after having them 3 days....heard some fella, who was a bit behind me, quite clearly reloading today even though he had Ninja pro he hadn't a chance....:D

    Firstly: any luck today?

Now for an update. Disaster struck today. when I put on my headphones today I noticed that the left earpieces?? volume was lower than the right...balance seemed wrong.. thought it was me at first..(could have been going deaf in the left ear..:D) but after about 10 mins it gave up totally.. only sound from the right... checked all the cables, plugged em in and out umpteen times,no luck..
Emailed TB support and they told me to get a replacement pair at P.O.P. so will have to do without for to-night. Could have been alot worse, had they asked me to send em to them.
Problem is the Amplifier clip was broke since first day, not my fault (seriously clip seems a little flimsy to me). Was just unclipping it from my pants pocket and whatever happened, end result was it snapped....hope this won't be a problem tomorrow..:confused::confused:

:) I did try to warn ya! but it's good to know that the av/hdmi thing exists, might give them another go with that.

and i dont have a ps3 im xbox and pc only . im still dead set on gettin them ill just have to wait till i get my hands on the av hd splitter thingy

oh did you have the problem with the regular xbox? is there a HDMI output with them now?

either way, didn't mean to rub it in, sorry :) but like I say, I'd give them a go with the AV splitter cable shammy linked to, didn't even know they existed when I got mine.

i thought they where always made like that ? i mean i bought the actual cable seperately but it was always built into the box itself . it manages both audio and visual hd ouput directly from the xbox to the tv . but since the turtle beachs go straight into the xbox u need a seperate hd audio out/input
otherwise it just works as a really expensive headset

Don't most modern tv not have AV out RCA connection?
Why not use these instead of buying a new cable for no reason...

because the headphones dont connect to the tv as far as i can see on the diagram they connect to the xbox so they can be used to speak hear and so you can easily manage voice and in game sound levels

Can you hook the 3.5mm jack on the PX21's into the headphones port on your TV to get the sound?

The HDMI will transfer the AV to your TV and then you can feed off the audio from the headphones port from your TV?

I've had the older model P21's for about 6 months for the PS3. As far as I understand they replaced the RCA connectors on the P21's with a single 3.5mm jack. What I was doing with the PS3 was using the HDMI for both Audio and Video. Then I put a RCA to 3.5mm adapter onto the P21's RCA plugs and stuck the 3.5mm jack into the headphones port on my TV. The sounds was much better when using the HDMI too compared to the composite cables.

I'd imagine it would be something similar on the XBOX too.

Edit: View the attached diagram to see what I mean.

but it would only function as a set of headphones then not as a speaker as well if you get me ? the usb plug in part powers it and then theres to seperate wires that go into the xbox one is for audio input and one is for audio output . by plugging it straight into the tv i lose the ability to smack talk 10 year olds

I think there's a separate cable that connects the inline audio turtle beach control to the xbox controller for voice communication though?

I'm just going based on the manual here (page 6)
    http://www.turtlebeach.com/LinkClick.aspx?fileticket=%2bkPRTc8b4IM%3d&tabid=743

As far as I know, voice comm on the xbox happens from the controller and not the ports at the back of the console. they're output ports only. (could be wrong here)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,009 ✭✭✭Shammy

I dont think so due to the opti out on the xbox , i'm not an expert with the ins and outs but that is why there were different models for the 360.

You don't need the extra cable, i picked up a set of the x31s and just plugged the red and white audio leads into the back of the tv. The mic works perfectly fine like this.

If you have something already going into the audio out jacks on the tv then i wouldn't waste 20 quid on the official Microsoft lead, you'll pick one up on eBay for around 6 quid incl P+P

You mean my whole set up or just the headphones?

If it's the whole set up it's just a 32" tv, nothing special. The x31s are wireless so the wireless transmitter is plugged into the usb at the back of the xbox, then the audio leads go from the transmitter to the audio out at the back of the tv. The headphones themselves plug into the controller.

My only gripe with them so far is that they eat through the batteries.

Hi, there seems to be conflicting reports that a seperate HDMI AV cable is needed to connect them if your Xbox is connected to your TV with the HDMI lead. I just want to see someones set up so I can see exactly which cables are used etc.

I heard the wireless ones are savage on batteries, Hutch mentions that in one of his vids on YouTube.
I'm gonna go for a wired pair.

No Shammy, but I have the play and charge kit which is great.
I have two other controllers that I use rechargeable batteries in but its a pain in the ass recharging batteries all the time.....I suppose I could use them for the headset aswell.

The wireless ones are a bit out of my range at the minute though..pricewise.

Just use the audio out function on the back of your TV.
It doesn't make a blind bit of differnece if you take the audio before it goes into the TV or after it leaves through the back. The only difference is it might be amplified from your TVs internal amp.

My only gripe with them so far is that they eat through the batteries.

thats the problem im not using the x31's i want a wired set so i dont maul through batteries. everything else i use both xbox and other wise is either on a play and charge basis or rechargeable batteries. and the second option is a last resort i cant stand it but way easier than going to buy batteries every 2 weeks . therefore if i can avoid it ill be using the wired option :)

You can get that in Game on Dawson St (Dublin) for 12.98 at the moment.

Waste of money... but people seem set on using this solution when its not needed.
The only need I can see for using that cable would be if you wanted to send audio to an external audio receiver when your TV did not have audio ouputs or an old AV receiver with no hdmi.
