I am planning to go on a trip to Scotland in the summer and was wondering my AEG is cronoed at .90-.94 and if i play an outdoor site then there is a big possibility of been out ranged by the locals who obviously have more powerful rifles due to the difference in regulations over there. thing is i want to be competitive so what is the best way to accurately upgrade an AEG. I am not a whizz when it comes to dismantling an AEG and was wondering is it the best idea to just change the gearbox for a better one that you have tested here before hand and swap it out or change the spring in your own gear box.

You will be performing at circa 328fps vs. 350fps for an AEG. No offense, but hardly a difference to obsess over.

In Senny our group of lads were accused of having hot guns by a small number of disgruntled enemy, we were all chrono'd legal by Irish standards and myself I was only firing a little under .9j.we just had better performing guns on the day and the power made little difference.,

if you really wanna go with it, you could always build a spare gearbox that you could just drop in when ya get over there,. I'd be happy to just go with 1j thoughto be honest.,:)

have to agree with the other two, with a nice tight bore and bucking you will have no problem, i had no problem with range or be out ranged with an aeg

for me upgrading for an extra 20fps or creating a separate gearbox for 350fps is not needed at all, an extra 20 fps is going to have no effect really

I think im right that the sniper spring powered ones are around 1.5J, correct me if im wrong on that so you would be outclassed if you had one. However they most sites wont allow them to engage in close combat

rules vary a little from site to site, for this ta event the semi/semi auto sniper ( must be a sniper replica with scope) is 500fps with .20g so 2 joules ish

this is of course an area that is alien to irish airsoft, and people could maybe look into upgrading for, but you just need to be aware that just throwing a higher rated spring when your in the uk will not do the trick as power is nothing without control

Too true, love if it was put in practice here, would give meaning to snipers out there. Im tecnically our team sniper and i love it. But now i usually leave the ghille at home and opt for my MP5 and be very sneaky.

Main thing is to do a full tune up, hop up etc for the sniper if your abroad and remember to downgrade before you come back ;)
