The end of this season will not be the very end though, it's been announced that they are indeed going ahead with a movie after all:

I don't think we can really complain, 8 seasons (and on FOX!) is a remarkably solid run for any show...

Love the fact that they've been given a movie straight off the mark.;) Its ending on a relative high anyway, at least the plot didn't become exceptionallly atrocious or anything.

you're kidding right? I think the last episode and

Dana as a mole was just "exceptionally atrocious".

This season has been rubbish really,it is time to end it.

Ah nuts. I've actually quite enjoyed this season. Its redicilous at times, but also good fun. So, do we think we'll see a happy ending for Jack? Maybe Jack

live happily ever after in LA with Kim and Terry, and the final scene is a freeze frame of Jack smiling and giving a thumbs up ?, or will Jack's miserable life just get worse and worse?

tis a bit sad but this is actually what i've been hoping for since the start of the season, to end it here followed by a film. I think he's right when he says that a season 9 could be "potentially damaging". I'd rather they leave it as a good memory rather than drag it out to the point where it gets hard to remember how good it once was (the simpsons anyone?).
I thought seasons 1 - 5 were brilliant but since then they have kinda been re-hashing old storylines (season 6 in particular was pretty poor).
Part of me hopes he dies in the end of the film because that would wrap up the whole jack bauer saga pretty well, and show he's not indestructible. Twould be sad but if done properly could be a great end to a great character

It's not a bad idea to see it cancelled. What else could they do that they haven't done before.

Another mole in CTU this season disappointed me greatly. It's like they don't try anymore.

The only one left to be a mole if they were to have another series, would be Jack.

Word around the campfire is that it will end on a movie. So I'm guessing the series won't wrap up the whole plot.

Can anyone remind me of what happened to tony? I'd love to see him and jack team up again in a movie! ... regardless if he was a bad guy last time!

Last time we saw Tony was being dragged away screaming at Jack. We can assume he's either in jail or has secretly escaped and is up to no good.

Or do you think it could be a prequel or interquel?

I just wonder if the movie means that Jack definitely won't die, as I know from previous interviews that Kiefer mentioned having Jack die at some point and obviously Jack dying in some sort of brave act could be THE defining Jack Bauer moment, so maybe they might consider it now as the series end.

Movie is to be set in europe, starting in Prague. Production to begin end of this year, start of next

Will be about 2 hours long, either the first hour running in "movie time" with the 2nd hour real-time, or else the whole film will be movie-time set over 24 hours

I can't really see them ending it with Jack dying. He's survived way too much, now death seems farfetched! :rolleyes:

They should end it like Buffy did. Give good closure, but leave it open

The actor that plays him said he was not contacted about appearing in season 8, in interviews before it aired in January.

Hopefully he was lying.

Yeah in my opinion killing jack would be too obvious. If the movie is in europe my guess is jack will be working independently from CTU , possibly on the run from the law - Or on a mission with a personal vendetta. Hopefuly its not an over done stupid kidnapping of his daughther or something! - maybe jacks been a mole this whole time?! ha :cool:

Fox is know for there canceling and bringing back of shows, so i wouldn't be surprised to see a second movie or a new series if it's sucessfuly (the movie that is).

Either way im looking forward to a hopefuly explosive ending...

That would just be the exact plot of the movie Taken.

They would have to do something never different for a 24 movie, just changing the location wouldn't be enough.

Well they've gotten more than expected out of the premise of the show

Even at its worst times, 24 is still great TV

I just hope he's called over to Europe, as opposed to being there on holidays where all bullety hell breaks loose :P

Im giving the season the benefit of the doubt till it ends. Still theres far worse on tv that people love.
