Jesus Camp. Been wanting to see this for a while, but I can't quite bring myself to watch it yet because I know how much it'll piss me off.

Anything with Will Ferrell or that Zoolander idiot.......

Believe me, it will :pac: It is an interesting watch, though!

Any film that falls into the rom-com category, the ditzy-ness and sweetness rots my teeth!

This recent breed of "comedy" that's been shoveled out. Granted, I found The Hangover to be best of that group but it's still soooooooooooooooooooooo over-rated. People swear by it as if it was the greatest comedy to be printed onto celluloid!

Anything from the Scary/Date/Superhero movie crowd, or Meet the Spartans, I've seen about 10 minutes, that was enough

Anything with too much American propaganda. Especially when it comes to foreign policy issues. Anything to do with the British royal family. And most romantic comedies.

Zoolander. Sorry, I tried. I just don't get it.

"Saw" Series. I just don't know how people can stomach & sit through that much gore.

    Nicholas Cage movies.

It's a shame because I've heard he's done a couple of decent films, but I just can't look at him without developing a bizarre murderous rage

The Notebook , need I say more ?

What is it with some people and Nic. I love the way his movies are wither love or hate! do yourself a favour and watch Adaptation and The Weatherman though, 2 of his best.

As for my list, it includes anything with Jennifer Aniston, Ben Stiller and any of that Saw / Scary Movie crap too.

Crazy Heart ... Colin Farrell doing Willie Nelson.

But then again... can't know for sure unless you see it.

Edit: A lot of B Stiller dislike going here... fair enough. But PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE get a copy of Tropic Thunder just to see T Cruise in it... :D:D:D

I have a few movies but the mains ones are the "Gone in 60 Seconds" type movies and The Transporter. Absolute rubbish.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,092 ✭✭✭catbear

    The Notebook.

Anything with Kiera Knightly, there no atonement for Atonement!
Any spasmodic cinematography like Green Zone or Bourne, it can't distract from a poor script.
Anything preachy and I'm asleep, the whole point of moral tale is that we take the journey with the protagonist and if its well told we learn something from it.

I never want to see Legends of the Fall, Angela's Ashes or The English Patient ever ever ever again!!!!!!!!!

Tropic Thunder is worth it just to see what Tom Cruise did.

Anything with overly stomach-turning scenes - Scary movie type films, and Saw type films. No thanks.

The Passion of the Christ is another one. I just couldn't watch it.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,540 ✭✭✭Giselle

Any variety of spoof movie (with the honourable exception of Airplane).

Any misery bio's like Angela's Ashes or that ilk.

Any obviously female targeted movie like The Notebook or Beaches. I find them patronising in their determination to push 'girl buttons'.

Anything that features cruelty to children or animals, to any degree.

I second watching adaptation! Great movie!

Can't stand stupid teen comedies, the type spawned by the American Pie movies! Also a lot of Eddie Murphy's stuff is terrible!

For me she is a great indicator of a film's quality. Terrible actress who generally stinks up any film she is in. I think the only film she did not totally stink up was Derailed, but that was more down to having Vincent Cassel and Clive Owen in the film that her. Even then it is an average film rather than a good one.

Ditto. I know the original ABBA songs, they don't need any of this post-modern "repackaging". I've seen clips of Meryl Streep belting out The Winner Takes It All, and appreciate what it took for her to do that, but I've heard the horror stories about Pierce Brosnan's singing.

The other category of films I don't need to see are what I call "poverty porn": films that dwell on how shi**y life is in other parts of the world. Yes, we know, but it serves no purpose to rub people's faces in it. The rational response to a problem is to fix it: anything less is pointless indulgence. In My Humble Opinion, that is.

You are the type of what the age is searching for, and what it is afraid it has found. I am so glad that you have never done anything, never carved a statue, or painted a picture, or produced anything outside of yourself! Life has been your art. You have set yourself to music. Your days are your sonnets.

A bit harsh no? To boil it down to simply saying that these films just 'rub people's faces in it' is a gross over-simplification!

Well, I was expecting that kind of response, and thought about it ... and no, I still don't need to see it. I think the "raising awareness" phase is over, the awareness is as raised as it's going to get.

I'm thinking I might go and see No One Knows about Persian Cats tonight at the IFI. From what I've read, it does have a bit of "life sucks for youth in Iran", but it also has a good dose of rebellious Rock and Roll attitude. That's real rebellion, in the face of genuine danger, not some middle-class Punk "rebellion". That, I'll go and see.

    -Musicals

-The vast majority of Tim Burton films (notable exceptions: Batman, Batman Returns, Beetlejuice); I just find some of his work too much focusing on the visual and the gothic spectacular, not enough focus on actually making entertaining viewing.

    -Chick flicks

Great post I laughed too loudly when I read it.

Anyway I couldn't watch any of that crap either.

For me anything with Seth Rogan is a no no.
Once I saw Observe and Report that was the end

I forgot about Passion of the Christ. - not a case of "can't bring myself", more a case of "what's the point"? It sounds like Saw I, II and III rolled up in Christian theology. Torture is good, m'kay?
