I was just wondering what is generally considered a full loadout? ie. camo's, holsters, protection etc.

Maybe you could let me know what some of you have in your own loadouts??

That's a pretty nebulous thing. Like a rock-climber's rack or a website, it's complete when it covers the requirements you encounter, but also never hits a point where there's nothing to add or change to improve it or expand it. Similarly, it's a very individual thing - some people don't want gloves or knee pads, load-bearing preferences vary greatly, and what you need for a milsim versus what you need for a speedball skirmish is different.

Basically, there's no answer to your question. You're wearing a full loadout when you stop putting stuff on. :)

My loadout changes depending on what type of game I'm playing, although there are of course common elements.

Not the answer I was looking for. Obviously you need different things for different skirmishes, but Im looking for some examples of full loadouts!

What would the common elements be shane?

Yea thats true, generally you start with the AEG, camo, mags and somewhere to put it which is generally a tac vest. Thats, in my opinion, your basic loadout everything else is optional be it comms, pistols, ghillie suits you name it. When you choose your load out it should be practical and fit the purpose of the game. No point bringing a ghillie to an indoor CQB game.

Okay then. Without getting into specifics of brands and such, my current milsim loadout consists of:

    Camo shirt, trousers and hat
A.E.G. with lots of daft attachments all over
    A.E.G. mags
Plate carrier with loads of daft pouches attached all over
    Sidearm
    Sidearm mags
    Sidearm holster
    Grenade
    Radio
    Hydration bladder
    Gloves
    Kneepads
    Belt (with daft pouches)
    Drop-leg dump pouch
    Eye protection
    Face protection
    Boots
    Radio
    Radio headset
    First-aid kit
    Waterproof overclothes

I'd drop most of that for a speedball skirmish day, swap in a light vest with mag pouches on it. And of course I've gone Hawaiian shirt and shoulder holster for cop-themed games.

to get out playing you don't need that much to have a full loadout. the basic can be a full loadout as the other guys have said. my first game loadout consisted of black overalls tac vest from army bargains my m4 aeg obviously two mags and that was it my collection has grown more from that but all in good time

    +1 on that.
My first skirmish was an aeg, dodgy faded US Woodland green trousers with surplus Brit DPM jacker, no tac vest and 1 spare mag stuffed into my jacket pocked.

Now my 'normal' loadout is pretty much the same as Shane's above. It's amazing how you can keep adding stuff without even thinking how far you've gone from where you started.

I'd suggest though that your rig should never get in the way of movement - take what you need for the game. Milsim requires more, but as you need most of what's listed above you can't skimp (or you WILL be caught wanting) so you make do in terms of load weight and movement restriction. Speedball or Sunday skirmishing doesn't require that you are as self contained as milsim. Also you might be on your tobler, so without your team mates there's no need for radio/comms. You won't need to carry all your ammo as it's short games (usually) then back to safe zone, so you can cut down on mags. Ditto the waterproof gear (you don't need to plan for the possibility that you'll be stuck in the rain for a few hours). Makes for an easier loadout.

For load bearing gear I use a ciras vest for full day/milsim events. Lets you kart a fair bit of weight without it being an issue. Allows reasonable movement. This lets you carry a fair few mags (with real or low caps, you need this!) as well as comms and other bits and bobs.

For speedball or quick skirmishing ditch the ciras and use a chest rig (mags only). Allow you to cut down all the weight from the ciras.

Another great answer mate, thanks very much!! :D

And whats more common? Milsim or regular games?

Milsim sounds a whole lot less fun tbh...

There are entire threads on here dedicated to Milsim vs. skirmishing.

Depends what you're into mate. Both have their merits.

In milsim you generally have ammo limits - usually 300 or 600 rounds. Think about it - a real steel M4 uses 30 round mags. 300 rounds in real terms is ten mags. If you're using low caps or mid caps your ammo restriction could be anything between 10 and 3 mags. This means there's little spray and pray - you fire only when required - i.e. to hit a target or to provide cover for a flanking movement. This means that you don't get lads hosing down an area with an aeg with a high cap, which is (in effect) acting like a light machine gun. Milsim games also tend to be more objective orientated - so it's usually not a case of racking up kills - it's more about doing what you've been given as an objective.

Skirmishing/speedball can be great craic too - fast and furious and when played well can be great fun. I've only recently started to get into milsim and I still enjoy the odd sunday skirmish.

But - as I said - I'm new to milsim (and relatively new to airsoft too). Right now I prefer it because it's something new. Also it's more fun for me to try to figure out a problem (i.e. objective) that can't always be resolved by heavy automatic fire!:D

Load-out is a generic term, and should not be taken as a set rule.
I will guess, that if u asked most soldiers, what there load-out requirement's would be, I recon it would not be the one they have being Issued with.
Why are elite soldiers allowed to choose their own gear? Surely if you were dropped behind enemy lines you would have trained to adapt to your ever changing environment, so the load out you started with may change as the mission develops. So load-outs should be fluid and not what Hollywood or Xbox says it should be.
Your load out only needs to be as functional as it takes to get the job done. Why would you have a hydration pack on with 3kg of water here in Ireland, and not just because its milsim. It does nothing to make you a better player.
Surely the object is to try and win the objective you have being given either in milsim or skirmish. So Gear-Up as required and no more.
If it does not make you a better player why wear it. Is this not the reason why we wear camo?.

When packing all your bits and bobs don't forget to pack a 2 1/2ft ( clearing rod) of curtain wire and a couple of spare fuses!

Because you need to drink water, and it most certainly makes you a better player in that it allows you to remain at the level you started - it's a well-known fact that dehydration makes you poorer in pretty much every regard, from endurance to thought processes, so keeping enough fluid in your system will give you quite an edge over someone who doesn't, if that's what you care about. In a five-and-a-half hour game today I went through a litre and a half, and it's March in Ireland. Sure, it's possible to play that long without a drink, but it won't do your game any favours and it isn't good for you.

Plus let's not ignore the fact that airsoft often happens the morning after the night before. :)

Yeah Shane - I noticed that today myself - went through half the hydration pouch, which is 3 litres, so about the same as you. I know I'd have been in bits this evening (well, more in bits than I am after a day belly crawling around MAC) if I hadn't been drinking water from the pack all day.
