charging problem

    hi folks hoping for some help. I have a h.p. Compaq 6715s. It's been acting up when charging lately. When i plug it into socket the lead goes to a black box and then a lead out of that goes to lap top. This black box is making beeping noise constantly. Any ideas

    What kind of sound is it? A high pitched sound?

    Try charging it in another location i.e another room in the house. It could be EMI (doubtful though)

    Chances are its a fault with the transformer. Probably time to replace it.

    Does it still charge?
    Is it a continuous whistling or an intermittent beep space beep space noise
    Either way I should visit eBay, here's 1 for 18euro +4 p&p

    Yeah high pitched intermitent beeping yup turns out the transformer is busted on it seen the cannection to it is very loose.

    Thanks a mill for the answers and that link to ebay great value. Cheapest in brick shop i seen was 49euro. luckily i have 2 of the same laptops so have a spare i can use it's just in work and the house one broke today.
