Creating a system - Yes or no?

Many systems are floating about out there these days and it seems that whenever you've come up with something, there's been someone that's tried and tested it, and it hasn't worked or whatever. One of the recent ones I can think of is the Maria Laying System - more of a staking plan than a system as the person never explained the reasons for all the picks.

I suppose I'm looking at doing some laying myself, probably in football more so, but unsure as to create something myself and just, um, studied each selection individually and then decide if there's value there or not. Obviously the latter will be more time consuming but it will allow you to deviate every now and then, something a system won't allow you to do. You cannot backtest however, unlike a system.

My lack of excel skills also limits me! :D

So, what do you guys think?

I know of one system where, if you lose your stake, you double your stake on the next and so on,
till you win.The bankers do this on a daily basis and it seems to work quite well for them.

This is called the sovereign system, one of the oldest systems there is and primarily used on roulette tables, but can be adapted to any betting medium really. I've done it b4 with sports betting following different patterns, and believe me you get found out sooner or later. It's only a way to empty your wallet in my expuerience.
The best system I use nowadays is following a few very successful tipsters, and follow them strictly, the best way I have found in my expierience to make money from gambling.

So that's what it's called well, the reason it works so well with bankers is they're not using their own money, which is kind of handy. If the tipsters work for you then that's great.I don't follow anyone myself,I'm a very cynical person.
    Experience is a good teacher.:D

It's called the "Martingale System" not the Sovereign System.

Ah guys, I really didn't think that anyone would post the Martingale System :D It's a staking plan anyways.
