A word to the wise. The juvenile races are run on the road through Dunboyne at 2p.m. so the place is locked down while they are taking place. Best to be there well before in order to avoid unnecessary delays as entries close at 2.15p.m.

One of my favourite road races. Anyone ran the new course and know if is easier or harder?

Decided to run this as I never had done so before. I'm glad I did.

An excellent race, well organised, chip timing, a flat course and they even had the weather man on board!

This was excellent value at €15 (€13 if you had entered in advance on line). I noticed as well that it was well supported by other local Athletic clubs. Always a good sign. I liked the route which takes you through the village. This added to the atmosphere and there were hundreds of people to cheer you on. Once through the village the last mile circled the village with the finish on main street.

It was great to see the whole community involved and supporting the endevour. It was an example of how to organise a good quality race that gave value for money. Beats paying €25 + for some other over-hyped races.

Great race as usual. Liked the new course. Great to be able to see the leaders well into the second lap. The course was probably a small bit easier than before.

Good organisation for the most part. The only criticism I have is that cars were not being stopped in the village on the 3rd lap. I had to stop twice because a van driver couldn't decide if he wanted to park or not in the estate. It's not safe to be running full pelt one foot away from traffic. Stewards should have handled this better. Everything else was great.

Can't say that I noticed any problems with the traffic but but did hear it from other people afterwards.
You will get that with any race, some drivers have no patience and will not heed the marshalls

Good fast new course. Great value race too. No rip off prices either. Athletics the real winner with races like this.

Yep, 13 quid in advance and 2 of that goes to Special Olympics. Add the atmosphere, weather, grub and music and it all adds up to very good value.

Not sure if anyone can answer this but why go to the expense of chips when the start was so disorganised and there was no matts?

    Thanks for posting the results

Dont know. I guess the chip timing system must have been to avoid manual finishing recording with one start time the finishing line frame catching the finishing chip times.

There was a slight mix up at the end where the road was partioned with cones to carrall the leaders to the finish (and those with 1.5 m still to go away from finish). Not enough room was left for lead car and a few cones were flatenned: the car also was forced down the finish stretch as there was no room for it to drive past: as must have been the original plan. It cost the leader maybe a second to overtake the lead car but otherwise no problems. Maybe coordination issues between civil defence and club volunteers.

As a spectator I thought it was a great event and there seemed to be a huge amount of work put into it. Good quality field and the winner looked very strong indeed. Pity about the couple of hiccups but Im sure some of it due to new course and it will be ironed out next year
