Car warranty issue

I had the motor on my cars electric window replaced two years ago under warranty. It has now gone again but the manufacturer, Renault, are refusing to cover it even though my garage said they've had to relace dozens of these window motors as it's a design fault. My dad has the same car, megane, and he's had to replace both window motors in the past two years. As the cost of fixing it is 460 euro, what are my chances of getting Renault to do this repair again under warranty as it's the second time this hs happened to the same window?

It is the motor or the regulator Dave, there are sites on eBay that specialise in Windows Regulators and sites that specialise in Regulator Repair kits which are crap TBH, avoid.

Megane yeah? The window regulator fault is very well known. If the car is till under warranty there is no issue - they have to do it. Even if it's not, I think I read somewhere that Renault were covering these outside of warranty.

Certain Meganes were recalled because of the regulator, at least in the UK they were.

The car is now five years old but as it's the "second car" in the family, it's rarely used and has just 30,000 miles on the clock. Therefore it's a relatively "new" car and having the same window motor break twice in the past two years is a bit much. Btw I'm no renault basher as I've owned seven of them to date with issues until the current car.

My garage is fighting the issue on my behalf. However Renault are responding with ridiculous queries such as why the low mileage (as the car was bought new by me and has a full Renault service history since new, there's no question in my mind that there's a case of odometer tampering) and am I sure it's a 05 car and not a 06 (Renault Pre registered the car themselves in 05 but didn't sell it to me until 06 with 3km on the clock). Pretty stupid queries imo!

Your garage/renault dealer reggeg the car and they are responsible IMO.

I'm just about to get the third window regulator fix in OH's megane. It's such a common fault - had this been the U.S. There would be a class action suit.

The garage dealing with Renault is not the Renault garage I bought it in as their customer service is deplorable. My local Renault garage actually values my business, even during the Celtic tiger era when most garages/car sales staff were arrogant and dismissive of their customers.

I've googles this fault and it does appear to be very common. Wonder why Renault didn't get the same stick as Toyota has gotten recently, although I suppose a faulty window motor isn't as serious as dodgy brakes.

Did Renault cover this or did you have to pay?

their previous repair should have been permenant but instead it had the same fate with the original fault! renault are responsible for fixing this, well its not renault but the garage you bought the car from that is ultimately responsible!

The garage I bought the car from don't want to know and told me to basically f off when I went to them on Tuesday last. My local Renault dealer are the ones who did the repair two years ago but they have said that the replacement motors issued by Renault are as bad as the originals and they've had people back when the second motor failed. In these cases Renault played hardball and either refused to cover the warranty or offered to pay a small percentage of the cost.

Ok firstly you need to go to the garage and ask to speak to the warranty manager, Ask him to submit a goodwill request on your behalf making sure that he tells renault about the full service history/good customer etc etc. If it comes back with a negative result as him to see the printout from renault with your car details on it ( he will show you no problem if he actually submitted one ). If this is all in order contact renault directly and clearly state that you are a loyal customer as are your family etc etc and that you and your family will be looking at other brands for your change next year if they refuse to sort out this common issue on your car. Also state that you will be talking to Joe Duffy about the matter ( car companies hate publicity of faults like this )

I have over 5 years warranty experience and have found that while in some cases this method does not work it generally does as they can have you off their backs reletively cheaply. Legally unfortunately you dont really have much to stand on as renault will have somewhere in their terms that the replacement part only carries the warranty of the original part

Same here, two fails within 2 weeks, car just out of warranty, Renault dismissed themselves from any responsibility, my solution was to get them fixed and sell the car. Bought a Ford.
    I'll never buy Renault again

I'm pretty loyal to Renault and so are my family, I've a megane, wife has a grand scenic, father has a megane and mother has a clio. However I'm sure Renault wouldn't give a fcuk about this or my full service history. Until my current car, I always found Renault to be reliable. My first megane was bought new in 96 and I sold it in 05 with 130,000 miles on the clock and apart from routine servicing, nothing went wrong on that car. My current megane has had two broken windows (same one), ignition coil went, front left suspension bushing went, and has more rattles and squeaks than a room full of baby toys. I doubt if I'll buy another Renault again.

I contacted my local Renault garage fir an update on my window claim last Thursday and they said they'd call me back. Up to yesterday, I had no response so I went over to them. Unfortunately the person I was dealing with was in a "meeting" and couldn't speak to me but I was told that they'd contact Renault again and get back to me. I asked when would that be and they said whenever Renault responds. I was then guided towards the door. Maybe I'm cynical but to me, it felt like a not too polite "get the fcuk off our premises cause we don't want to know now that the car market is picking up again". So I gave up on Joe Mallon motors and contacted Renault myself again.

I was put through to customer complaints, I explained the situation and they gave me a case number and said someone would call me back soon. Four hours later, I rang Renault again and asked why I hadn't been contacted by them. "All of our managers are busy right now (I'm not surprised given the crap quality of their cars I thought to myself) but someone will call you back soon". This didn't happen of course.

So what to do now? The garage I bought the car from don't want to know. The garage who did the repair don't want to know. Renault Ireland (although I'm sure their call centre is in the UK as I keep getting English and Scottish people when I ring) don't want to know. I'm pissed off enough to keep pestering Renault with phonecalls but I don't think I'm going to get anywhere with this.

Hey Prosperous dave, im currently having the exact same problem you were with my electric windows and i was looking for a number for renault customer service in ireland but couldnt find one anywhere, all they have at renault.ie is a stupid web email form that doesnt work properly. I managed to figure out what their email was and send them one but ive a feeling i'd be waiting a long time for a reply.
Would you by any chance still have the customer service number you used or would you know where to find it?
    Thanks

Why?. He's had no control over Renault in Ireland since Renault took over in 2007 and I doubt he'll fix the regulator for free in any of his 6 garages, though there's no harm in asking I suppose.
