Meat Contamination -Steel Round Flights

I almost hate to bring this one up, however, it has become a concern as of late as there is literature/research out there that seems to be suggesting a concern is legitimate.

Does anyone out there hunt deer? If so, have you any experience with the bigger rounds, say 30-06 or the like, that use a steel core?

Any experience would be welcome. Ranges between 100 - 300 yards would be ideal. 600 yard would be the limit. Ballistic tables welcomed!

For those new, there's a concern with meat contamination from lead rounds. I used to not worry, just place the shot correctly. However, now I find myself becoming more cautious. Travel distances from lead fragments are (from what they claim) getting into my comfort zone, even with the perfect body shot.

Anyone ever shoot this type? True, it's a bit light...

if your worried about lead poising dont be ,be more worried about copper fragments in your venison.

learn to place your shots better and use the right ammo that is most suited to your preference shot placement

If your house is more than 50 years old you are in greater danger of lead poisoning (ingested from old paint) than you are from eating a herd of deer.
