Most likely not, why would they name captains if they were.

Pope V AJ should be good once no one else gets involved i.e. Flair and its gets a lengthy timeslot on the show. I assume its the main event and will be last.

Is Angle V Anderson also on the card?

I expect Team Hogan to be Abyss, RVD, Jeff Hardy (if he isnt in prison) and Jeff Jarrett and Team Flair to be Sting, Desmond Wolfe, Beer Money maybe

Have to say that's probably the strongest Lethal Lockdown line-up yet, it's the perfect mix of star power and in-ring talent.

There is the problem that it's a cage match though I do doubt that'll stop them.

Following tonight's TNA Impact broadcast, here is the final card for this Sunday night's Lockdown PPV. Remember, all matches will take place in a steel cage.

-A.J. Styles vs. "The Pope" D'Angelo Dinero for the TNA World Title

-Team Hogan: Abyss, Jeff Jarrett, Rob Van Dam, and Jeff Hardy vs. Team Flair: Sting, Desmond Wolfe, James Storm, and Robert Roode in a Lethal Lockdown match

    -Kurt Angle vs. Mr. Anderson

-Doug Williams vs. Shannon Moore vs. Kazarian in a Triple Threat match for the X Division Title

-Team 3D vs Scott Hall and Syxx-Pac

    -Kevin Nash vs Eric Young

-Rob Van Dam vs James Storm with the winner receiving the advantage for his team in the lethal lockdown match

-Angelina Love (c) and Tara vs Velvet Sky and Madison Rayne with both the Knockouts Championship and Knockouts Tag Team Championships on the line. Whoever scores the pin fall wins either championship.

It'll be interesting to see what they do with Storm/RVD, they'd probably want Team Flair with the man advantage but I doubt they'll want to pin RVD. It's a strong line-up, particularly the top of the card.

    More interviews on Lockdown:

The Guns vs. Homicide and Kendrick added to the PPV. Opening package for Lockdown:

    iMPACT! Review/ Lockdown Preview:

    EY interview:
IGN TV: What are your thoughts about having a one on one cage match with Kevin Nash this Sunday? He's got a definite size advantage.

Eric Young: This is probably the highest profile match of my career. One of the biggest. It's Lockdown. We're on the road. In St. Louis. Lockdown's one of our biggest Pay Per Views of the year and my match is against a multi-time World Champion. A guy who's been a top guy in wrestling for years. He was a booker in WCW and is, like said, is a humongous human being. I'm giving up a lot of size, but that's never really bothered me before. I don't really think that much about it. They say there's a very thin line between courage and stupidity. And I think I'm riding that line pretty hard right now.

IGN: With a Pay Per View like Lockdown, do you feel the pressure to top the other cage matches on the show? Or to top your own Lockdown cage performances from the past? It seems like a very challenging show to create.

Young: Yeah, it is. I remember the first time the idea was thrown around to have an "all cage" Pay Per View and I think a rule of thumb in TNA is, and has always been, "can you top this?" It's a competition amongst each other, and amongst people in the industry itself, to see who can have the best cage match. And when you think that everything's been done you'll see every year at Lockdown someone comes up with something new. Something else. Something more spectacular and something crazier or more violent. It's definitely a "can you top this?" kind of mentality. And it's that way every time we go into a Pay Per View or a television taping. We want to put our best foot forward. We know we're the underdogs in this whole situation and it's so cool to be a part of that.

IGN: I saw you take a big leap off the top of the new TNA cage a few weeks back on Impact. I don't think I've seen you do many high-risk maneuvers before. Is this now something you'd like to do more of?

Young: Sure. If the moment calls for it. I've been wrestling in TNA for – let's see – May will be the start of my sixth year here. If given the situation and the time. And the right opponent. Then I'm always willing to do it. To entertain people and to have the best match that I can. To have people remember what I did. But you know I've never been in a position to have a lot of those moments. A lot I've done has been kind of secondary with the comedy role and the "Super Eric" stuff, where it didn't call for those types of things. I didn't need to do that and that wasn't what was being asked of me. But yeah, it's something I'm into. I remember watching, as a kid, Jimmy Snuka jump off the cage. I'll be remembering that forever. Or when Mick Foley got thrown off the cage, or took a bump through the cage, or the elbow off the top of the cage. I remember those things and hopefully those will be something that people remember me for.

IGN: You mentioned it just now so I have to ask, how does it feel to no longer be in a comedic role? To step out on your own and be more of a straight-laced face?

Young: It feels great. And it's nothing against the comedic role. Comedy has always had a huge part in wrestling. From way back. From the mid-70s. There have always been slapstick characters, especially since the introduction of television. It's an element of wrestling now, whether people want to admit it or not. A lot of my fondest memories were from funny vignettes, or skits. Or funny moments in the ring. Like the really funny funny things that Steve Austin did. A lot of the things he did had comedic undertones to them because he's funny. He's sticking it to some guy and he's embarrassing them. Like his boss. And that was, arguably, the biggest angle in wrestling ever. But I love doing that stuff. Me and James Storm had a feud over the Beer Drinking Title and I got paid to drink at work for about four months. There's absolutely nothing wrong with that. But the position I'm in now is just great. And it just keeps going forward.

And I know that the people here who are in charge know that me becoming a bigger star, or a prominent star in the mix with all the other guys, doesn't happen overnight. It's a thing that takes a lot of time and they're smart enough to know that it's not going to happen straight away. It's a gradual build and I'm in it for the long run, that's for sure.

IGN: How did you get into the business? Did you start out as a fan?

Young: I've been a fan since I was six. I've been watching it forever. If I didn't watch it when I was younger than that, say in '88, I missed a few Pay Per Views because the only place to see them where I grew up in Florence, Ontario Canada was when my dad would take me to this bar with no windows [laughs] – a pretty shady place – and pay the doorman to let me and my friends come in and sit on the floor and watch the Pay Per Views. And I remember Hacksaw Jim Duggan being a giant fan favorite to my dad and his construction worker buddies. They were yelling and drinking beer and hollering at the TV and stuff.

But I've always been a fan from day one. And when I got out of high school I got out and two weeks later I was at a wrestling school in Ontario and being trained by Carl Leduc. He did most of the physical stuff. He was the nephew of "Lumberjack" Joe Leduc. Carl appeared in the Bret Hart Wrestling With Shadows documentary. He's the guy being stretched by Stu Hart and yelling "I can't feel my arms! I can't feel my arms!" That's the guy who did my physical training. The mental training and the psychology portion of it - you know, characterization and how to work a crowd – was done for me by the late, great Waldo Von Erich, who passed away a few months ago. He was the one who trained to me and he's the guy who I owe most of my success to, I think.

IGN: Before you were in TNA and part of Team Canada, did you go by any other personas that we might not know about?

Young: I was always, from day one, I was "Showtime" Eric Young. That's how I started. Well, originally I actually wanted to be "The Director" Eric Young. I'm huge into film and I used to make my own movies. Me and my friends used to write and produce and act in our own movies. I was into community theater and I did Improv Olympics. Theater and movies and that kind of stuff. Film has always had a huge influence on my life. And that's what I wanted to be, but you know, I was seventeen years old and I wasn't really directing much of anything. So I switched it to "Showtime." It's just kind of stuck with me ever since.

IGN: I've talked to a few of the TNA guys who are gamers and they've mentioned your name. I assume you also partake?

Young: Oh yeah. I do. I'm a big gamer. I've owned a system all the way from Atari 2600 to every single Nintendo to all the Playstations. I own a Wii and an Xbox 360 now too. And probably soon a Playstation 3 because I need Blur-ray. I gotta have it.

IGN: What are some of your favorite games at the moment?

Young: My number one favorite game, and you know I'm from Canada and I grew up playing hockey, is EA Sports NHL 10. I would say probably it's the best sports game ever made. And I love Madden and I love NCAA Football. I play The Show on my PSP, but there is no better sports game than NHL 10. It's the best sports game ever made.

Nope, I'd imagine they're building something longer term for Morgan and just didn't have anything for him to do here.

I think i'm getting armchair booking syndrome....I don't think TNA are pushing AJ vs Pope hard enough; the focus seems much more on Team Hogan vs Team Flair. i'd've combined Nash/Hall/Pac vs Team 3D/EY.... Also it seems the heels are jobbing clean (the band, beer money etc) so the faces are looking very strong (haven't seen impact yet)

Surprised they haven't given Morgan anything to do at the PPV (Morgan vs Generation Me or MMG?) i'm not really feeling the PPV this month....hope iMPACT hypes me up :)

I agree I am so sick of it always being about Hogan V Flair it is overshadowing what should be a great main event of Pope V Styles. The should take the tag titles off Morgan but keep them he hell away from the band.

Problem is, TNA know that attaching Hogan and Flair to things and pushing it will increase the PPV buys.

I'm really looking forward to the Styles - Pope match but boy will I be glad that the Anderson - Angle feud is ending. Couldn't get into it at all. Seemed to just be booked wrong. So many times when it seemed like a blow off to the feud and then suddenly it starts again.

Has the presence of Hogan/Flair had any effect on PPV buys, though so far?

And since when have TNA ever cared about PPV buys?:pac:

I remember Hogan or Bischoff saying they were up a little but then again that's coming from Hogan and Bischoff. If they are up, I'd probably attribute it more to the Before the Bell shows that started as Hogan came in than them but there's no denying that the presence of Hogan and Flair will increase the interest of casual fans. And nobody, not even TNA, cares about TNA's PPV buys.:)

It's viel Glück, but the sentiment is very much appreciated, thanks.:) I really hope they leave the title on Williams, he's been excellent on iMPACT! lately. My head says Styles should win (mainly based on the big AJ/Hardy and AJ/RVD matches that can be done) but the idea of Pope winning has slowly been slipping into my head.

    - Due to the Volcano, Doug Williams was unable to fly out of the UK, thus he isn't at Lockdown tonight.

    - The Lethal Lockdown is expected to go on last.

    - Regarding tickets, the event has sold about 3,000 tickets, as of this morning.

Apparently Doug's been stripped of the title and the X-tag match has been turned into an Xcape match with the winner taking Doug's place in the X-Title match.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 198 ✭✭mr.mayo

Lethal Lockdown is going on last? That pretty much confirms that Team Hogan is winning. I'm guessing James Storm will beat RVD earlier in the night with some sort of interference to get the advantage for Lethal Lockdown but the faces will ultimately triumph.
MCMG vs Kendrick & Homocide is random as hell, Kendrick & Homocide have barely been on TV lately and putting them in a non title tag match like this suggests laziness on behalf of the bookers. I have no doubt that the Gun's will win this
AJ vs Pope should be great, neither have a distinct advantage coming into this so I was finding it hard to pick a winner but after reading that this won't be closing out the show, I'll go for an AJ win here
Angle vs Anderson should be a great match, I've heard Angle is taking time off after this but I still expect him to get the win. Anderson winning the ladder match on Impact gave him a 2-1 lead in their series so I'd expect Angle to level it up and close the feud with a win here tonight

Don't feel like writing about the rest lol

Wow, Angle vs Anderson was a fantastic match. I don't often say this about TNA, but this match told a great story. There was a couple of OMG moments near the end. Angle german suplexed Anderson from the top rope and Anderson landed right on his shoulder. That looked nasty. Then Angle did a moonsault from the top of the cage and landed right on Kennedys head. Both spots were frightening to watch, but still added to the drama. Angle finished by choking Anderson out with a chain, kicking him in the balls, and leaving the cage, lol. Very good stuff. Glad I decided to watch this PPV now.
