NO DTT SIGNAL IN CARRICK-0N-SUIR TODAY-WHAT AREA COVERS IT?

I set up a friend with DTT in Carrick a few weeks back and got all the channels, I know TV3 has been wiped by nice RTE but today he tells me he is getting " No signal" message! I dont know where the signal is transmited from for Carrick, I am on Maghera and thats ok.

He has tried the usual re-booting etc but no joy. Can anyone confirm it is off the air and the name of the transmission station or it may be still ok?

    Thanks

Ask him to do a manual tune on mt leinster ch 39

Thank you, I got him to do that eventually but picture not stable. We are comunictaing by phone, Told him to leave it for a bit.

At least he got a signal. Asked him to check leads as well. He is hooked up to a Sanyo LCD and that is complex.

    Try ch 21 and 34 - mullaghanish

    ch 40 north cork

ch 52 suir valley-that should be the local one.

No harm to leave them all tuned in.

He actually did an auto scan, its a Sigmatek receiver but apparently the LCD is playing up as well so problems with seeing menu onscreen and I am trying to talk him through the sequences! over the phone, ie press menu, installation, then arrow down, but he pressed ok first and it went into auto mode so I left it at that. I think box then picks best signal and saves it. If he is still having trouble I'll use ch's you suggested.

    Thank you.

Carrick-On-Suir is served by the suir valley transmitter and the Mt. Leinster transmitter, At the moment there is no DTT from suir valley. Over the past few months it has been on and off; so I dont bother to tune to this transmitter. I use the Mt. Leinster transmitter Ch45. Where abouts in Carrick is he living?

Channel 40 ( Mitchelstown Relay DTT, North Co.Cork ) is also off air since yesterday afternoon ( had been on for about two weeks ), so it could be possible that RTE NL have turned off the smaller relays at the moment. It would appear that there is a lot more switching on & off of the smaller relays, than there is of the main transmitters. Luckily, CH21 Mullaghanish, powers in here also.

no luck with all the others.

It would be worth trying a group b (yellow spot) aerial horizontal pointing to Mt. Leinster. He probably has a group a (red spot) for tv3. But the tv3 aerial will be feed through a combiner 3537 which will kill all channels above ch35. So thats probably the reason for blocky pictures.

The transmitter is close to Templeorum in Corbally wood about 3 miles NE of Piltown.

For the last few days I've been having trouble receiving the digital channels. My tv3 aerial is pointed towards Piltown/Owning direction. Up until around Sunday the reception was perfect but then I got the no signal message so done a retune, I picked up all the stations on channel 39, but they are all blocky.

You were probably receiving from suir valley, but its turned off at the moment. So when you did a rescan ; you tuned to a Mt. Leinster signal which your aerials are not configured correctly to receive. So you have blocky reception now.

Ill post here when Suir valley is back on so you can rescan.

Thanks all. They were using ch45 and pictures were perfect. I only took the DTT box with me to check if they could receive DTT and I noticed the aerials on chimney were skewy so Analogue signal has ghosting but when I showed them the difference they begged me to sell the DTT box. I agreed but forgot that DTT was only testing so when signal goes they blame the box.

Is there any good aerial installer in Carrick who could put in a proper set up that would allow them to pick up a few transmissions? ie adjust the 2 aerials at present so they get a good analogue on RTE and TV3? And would the same person be able to adjust sky dish so that they get film 24 perfectly? I put on a quad lnb and only after I had fitted it then he mention film 24 but I hasd no more time to adjust skew etc and it was tiiping down. I am in Clare and I used to travel back and forth to uk so would stop in Carrick and do a few bits but now it would mean a full day to go up and back.

Suir valley back on, but only on Ch52 (722mhz). Which is a good idea, no need for them to be transmitting on 4 muxes :)

Would DTT be picked up in Cahir town from the Mitchelstown relay

I got it in Ballyporeen from Mullaghanish for my sister ( Mitchelstown wasn't on that day ), so I don't see why not. Ballyporeen is 8 miles from here and Cahir is about 18, but it's worth a shot, as long as you're not down in Cahir town centre, which is very low lying.
